I think our starting Midfield would get ripped apart - you have to have ball winners in the middle to allow people ahead of them to play, can't just fill a team with creative/luxury players

This all smacks of the Allams convincing the non believers there were funds available ,but on a ..........".Buy one get two free" programme. lets hope none are on contracts of more than a season long,if they do come. Fuller and Faye are past their sell by date as far as long term productivity goes.
Adebola signing should have been a lesson learned.

Well you sound like a bundle of laughs. The players mentioned show that we can get value for money. There is nothing wrong with a free transfer. Look at Koren and Rosie.

Proschwitz and any two of the 4 or 5 players mentioned would represent good business. I would rather it be happening now than playing catch up in Jan. We can dictate the market in Jan to those panicking rather than the other way around.

You might see Maclean moving on to make way.

That turned their season around to be fair. Theyw ere bottom and doomed at that point and after this they went on a great run staying up comfortabley.

Now they're so established people seem to forget how bad Stoke were in the first 6 months of their first Prem season.

But I think that was our problem in the last 2 seasons. You need lots of strikers contending for places because if not, you have nobody to turn to when you're not scoring. We had McLean, Fryatt, Simpson and Cullen last year. Fryatt went through a phase of not scoring, McLean scores once in a blue moon, Simpson is disappointing in the League and Cullen is just useless at this level.

To have another couple of strikers in contention, would mean that when and if Fryatt goes through another phase of not scoring, we can put someone else there to take over.

With so few goals in the last 2 Seasons, it's quite understandable that we may need a switch around in strike force. I'd offload Simpson and send Cullen out on loan. Which would then leave us with Fyratt, McLean, Proschwitz and Fuller. Sounds better.

Just read the HDM piece on last night and it's easy to forget - well I certainly did - that Jay is only 23. I had him down as around 26 to be honest and it mustve been hard to leave where he has always lived with a baby in tow.

Hopefully he now feels more settled and can have a real crack at it. To be honest I've felt for him, he hit that one golden patch in his first season and was then unceremoniously dropped for either Fryatt or Mclean. It mustve got him thinking 'what do I have to do?'

If we're going to complain about Fuller's age then we should look at Dawson, he's a year older than Fuller and as a full back plays in a position where pace is more important. (Fuller being the big striker the faster ones will work off)

If we are going to be promotion material Dawson shouldn't be anywhere near the starting Eleven.Fuller's age isn't the major concern he is injury prone and has been on a downward spiral for quite some time.I doubt he could command a regular start even at championship level.

I posted before about flashbacks to the Ternent era when a lot of money was spent and we got lumbered with a load of has-beens

If we're playing with wing backs I agree about Dawson, he doesn't have the pace. With a back 4 it depends who's playing alongside him as I'm not sure Dudgeon, Cooper, Chester, Rosenior would give us a very organised defence. You'd be looking to Rosenior for experiance to take control of it, but we need Rosenior to be bombing on and helping out upfield as well or we're wasting him and his pace.

We don't need Fuller to command a regular starting place. We need him to work with Proschwitz in training, clueing him up on all the defenders he's about to come up against, and to be there to let us rest Proschwitz every now and then, or come on along with a defensive midfielder in place of our 2 strikers for the 20-30 minutes of games if we're wanting to see them out. Especially when you look at Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday spells in the fixture list, or at Xmas and Easter, and April this season is going to be what March was for us last season.

if I had the chioce, I'd start Simpson rather than Fuller as I get the feeling Jay is going to be back with a bang..

I think Fuller would be a great player to bring off the bench after Prozzy had battered them for an hour.
City have been caught out a lot in the past when teams have brought a big goalscorer on late in the game, it would be good to see us do it.

Likewise, assuming Proschwitz was starting alongside him.

Hmm, I'm not gonna call on what Simpson may or may not be like because City as a team had a great pre season last season, then come the first few games of the Season, before the unbeaten run, we were dire.

Pre Season isn't usually everything, sometimes the mindset changes.

I do hope he improves and manages to get himself on the score sheet often.
