Spurs will be weaker without Modric. Looks like he is off to Real Madrid.

A lot of Spurs fans (myself included) will tell you he doesn't score enough/assist enough to command such a high value.

At times he's awesome and almost unplayable, but too many times against the big teams he disappears (especially Man Utd). Also he can get outmuscled in MF far too easily.

I'll be sad to see him go as he has been, overall, very good but the past 2 Summer transfer windows has soured my opinion of him a bit (especially last Summer).

Modric will be a huge loss but if Spurs get Moutinho it won't weaken them as much as it should. Apart from Chelsea and Liverpool all the top 8's weaknesses are at the back. I'm amazed how none of the big clubs have even looked at strengthening their back lines or Goalkeepers. I do feel Spurs should get Lloris. Friedel looked really poor towards the back end of last season and Cudicini is past his best

    Don't forget Gomes <laugh>

Friedel has already come out and said he accepts that Tottenham are looking for a new #1. He seems like an all round top bloke <ok>

Lloris would be good though - Cesar is also being rumoured...

How's about you just start 3-0 up and we play with 10 men? It'd have the same effect...

If we start Malouda it evens it up but we'd still like the 3-0 start if that's OK?

Spurs are not a threat to the top of the table. They massively overachieved in the first 2/3s of the season and benefited from Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool having one of the worst seasons any of them have had in a very long time.

Since, Modric is a goner and whoever they bring in won't be as good (think about when LFC lost Alonso to Madrid), VDV could be tempted away yet, and AVB is still not fully Prem proven. They are on a knife edge and its 50/50 as to whether they move up or down, but my gut instinct is down and its 5th/6th at best for them.

Their undeserved arrogance and sense of entitlement based on nothing but finishing 4th/5th/4th, getting to a (big breath) CL Quarter final and playing some decent footy for half a season, will be their downfall.

Reading their forums you would think they were just pipped to the title they way their carrying on, or had a huge trophy haul behind them proving them as some massive club. There was a thread about them possibly signing Benzema the other day. Benzema, laughable.

They'll soon bottle it again and remember their Spurs, the number 3 club in London, and go back to fighting it out for 6th.

City, Arsenal, Chelsea, United and Liverpool are all richer than us so 5th or 6th is the top of our level...
Not all of us got carried away last year and weren't that surprised that we dropped off so much...the warning signs were there even when we were doing well.
As for now...we'll pick up a shed load for Modric...spend it on replacements...probably play exciting football...and come 5th or 6th at best...to be honest AVB as our manager is scaring the **** out of me...especially after his interviews last week where he came across bitter and obsessed about his time with you but I think I'm am in the minority in this view...You've had all those managers and the hand me down we get if A fecking VB...mind you it could have been worse... could have been Grant!

I think people are ruling out Liverpool far too early.

Money, good new Manager, good spine of the team. Will depend on anymore signings. Used to being up there every year. All that doesn't change over night.

Definitely in the mix but probably 5th/6th/7th.
