After we sold Kenwyne last summer, the camp was split between people being gutted about him going and other people glad to see the back of him.
No one will argue when Kenwyne was on his game he was almost unplayable. I thought with him moving to Stoke who play more aerial football than us that he would thrive and score a lot of goals for them but a return of 6 goals in 29 games hasn't seemed to work out for him.
Do you think we miss him? i'm sure he would have offered us a lot over these last few weeks of doom.
i'm not saying we should have kept him because he was so frustrating but i'm sure he'd of been of use the last few months.

we have loads of players who are frustrating at the moment, big expectations and so on.

but you gotta admit gyan is frustrating at the moment, and that is his own doing,

one week a world class player with ghana, the next an average player for safc,

I still think we should have played Jones at the front of a midfield diamond.
It would have stopped all that hoof ball we played.
If you watch him his actual ball control to feet is excellent and he is capable of making slide rule passes.
His power in the air would still have been available at set pieces too.

Personally I think he is having to work too hard with no midfield support.
Too often he has to go chasing the ball which takes him out of position and the defenders can gang up as they have no one else to worry about.
The top teams bust a gut to get up and support their forwards, too often we pass the ball and stand still.

hence why i agree with putting wellbeck on the left,

gyan by all accounts plays best as a lone striker (a formation i don't agree with), and don't want too see it,

but wellbeck will add something to midfield, thats why i'd like to see him as l/w and bring in young noble, along with gyan,

    nowt to lose

Jones had a great game against Spurs and scored a fantastic goal but that will be his "one" game in the season where he has a stormer because hes just too inconsistent for the top teams.

If he ever pulled his finger out he could play for Man U, but he's so inconsistent Fergie would never stand for him. I though he was a good buy for Stoke, but I wonder what their fans think of him now? Probably the same as us...

I read something on the 606 site about Jones.

Stoke fans were calling him lazy, and were saying that the general assessment passed on to them by Sunderland fans was correct.

He put a good season in for us, got the improved contract, lacked the required desire and can't be bothered applying himself

I kind of miss Kenwyne, mainly because his kids went to the same nursery as my daughter and his wife was really hot! For that alone I applaud him and yes, my brief glimpses of his wife's beauty were for me at least the high points of his tenure with SAFC. He was frustrating and brilliant often in the same match, but towards the end of his stay with us he was much more frustrating than brilliant and I think we were right to let him go. As for Gyan, his goal scoring record at club level is not brilliant, as he is not an out and out striker in my view. We just don't give him enough quality ball and we our players are not performing to a high enough level to give Asamoah the support a loan front man needs. With a more creative midfield, with possibly a playmaker and two good wingers, of which we really have niether, I think Gyan will come good.

I miss Kenwyne he would give us exactly what we lack at the minute that being a physical presence upfront.

Him and Gyan would be class I think but sadly it won't happen

Perhaps that’s what Bruce looks for in a player the ability to be frustrating………….. rather than the ability to frustrate the opposition

I am still a huge KJ17 fan - we should have built a team rounf him - I have always said that.

What a f*cking howler we made in the summer.

Should have let Bent go to Turkey - we would now have KJ and AG up front.

I reckon that would have been an unplayable front two.

    Lol Bart

PS - would love to see KJ pick up a FA Cup winners medal.
