    why is it a make believe city?

    No Cathedral link, that was abolished in 1888

    Nottingham has been a city since 1897 but has no Cathedral.

    Stoke as well

    just to name 2

    Sunderland is a city, not a pretend one, even without a Cathedral.

    yep, we are smaller than Newcastle and Sunderland but have a bigger cathedral, nicer river, quality people and class so **** you all

    Well chiek the room until last year didnt even know Sunderland was a city.

    In all seriousness though, I dont give a ****e, I have never lived anywhere near Sunderland, but it is a City and a City in its own right, and deserves city status more than some.

    City of London is only 1 sq mile and has 11,000 residents, Greater London is not actually a city, but has 2 cities in it (City of London and Westminster), but London as we think of it (27 sq miles and huge) is not a City.

    Ripon is a City with not a lot of ppl in it, the list goes on and on.

    York is a decent historical city, yet it has a Minster rather than a cathedral.

    You can only have 1 cathedral per diocese, ours is Durham Cathedral.

    But as usual, the resident toon trolls enjoy their little delusions.
