frank, why are you asking all the hard questions at the moment? It's really the old price-value dilemma. The PRICE will be whatever another club is prepared to pay for him. The judgements that they make are not in our control. The VALUE judgements are ours and are far more complex than the fee offered or the utility of the player. In Carroll's case the complexity is exacerbated by the fee that we paid when viewed against what we are likely to recover. The interesting thing is that whilst we argue on here about who, what and how those value judgements are being made within the club, we have absolutely no influence upon them. Whatever does or does not happen with Carroll we are not going to stop being fans! Such is life!
What a ****ing mess 35mill for a player we may well accept 20mill for from the same club we bought him from 18 months and a handful of goals later and people keep trying to convince me FSG are "good business men". Sitting in my van listening to citytalk and they are convinced we'll take 20 mill for him and Toon in pole position. Paying too much for him is one thing but let's not forget how it was justified by Kenny and the club...this is a signing for 5 years not just 5 months. Nope this is about to be a case of losing 5million every 6 months...how many sponsorship deals are FSG putting in place to cover these sorts of losses? This sort of **** makes me think we must be the worst run club in the whole ****ing league.
Looks increasingly likely that Carroll will leave. All this after the Gylfi, will he won't he drama. Selling Carroll and Buying Borini is not left me feeling very excited, feel quite upset. Think it is time to return to doing our business behind closed doors. The Rodgers love in is over for me. Honeymoon over. Bring back Rafa. Oh Mandy, well you came and you gave without taking, and they sent you away
True Dave but it does leave me with the feeling that YET AGAIN the owners of the club I love just can't help but piss my season ticket money up the wall because of terrible decisions AND an unwillingness to INVEST. I find it unbelievable that in BRs first transfer window he is having to sell to buy It's total madness IMO
Lol Dave, 3 days off from posting! It is strange. If Chelsea or city had bought him for that price and dumped him after a year for huge loss it would hardly be blinked at any more.simply because they buy so many players in the 20m+ bracket. Obviously I would like him to stay & work out, for him, the team & the club. The only way we are ever going to get a return on the initial outlay is to keep him for 5 years & play him. Obviously that can't be to the detriment of the team as a whole. I'm sure we'll see soon enough this season what way it'll go.
Is it worth making more of a loss should Rodgers really not want him...? If we keep him then we continue to pay his wages and his value will not go up if he is not playing!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18850955 More from the BBC. I think that if the right money (whatever that is) is not being offered then he'll be loaned out to hopefully increase his value. Just like we did with Aquilani.
No doubt the toon will buy him a whole gaggle of slags (a slaggle?) with the millions of pounds of change from this deal anyone seen the Harry Enfield sketch where the shop owner openly admits to his dizzy customers that he "saw them coming"? We are the dizzy bitch of The Prem To think people used to slag off Mike Ashley eh.
KITT has informed me that it is now between the Liverpool board at Mike Ashley...with the disagreement on £20m.
I see the loan option as worse. It would leave us short of options with no incoming money whilst strengthening a rival. The only option we would have is loaning someone in ourselves.
This is a stick up i want no money no jewels just to take AC back home where he belongs.. now hand him over...plzzz
Haway Frank u got to be honest with ya self mate this was some good business from the toon, the lad is def not worth 35m but kenny seen the lad as the future for liverpool and wanted him badly and paid the price to get him. the thing with AC the toon made him look good which we will do again if he came back to us.
Can it really be classed as rape when we are bending over AND spreading wide our cheeks AND begging to be shafted hard...then paying for the privilige? If so...some of us are in serious trouble
Unless we sell him back to you at same price it's always going to be good business for you. You basically funded a team that out performed us last year all for a year loan of a promising striker that comes back. The only way we come out on top is by keeping him, playing him & it working. Is this going to happen? Doesn't sound like it!
