I have a funny feeling about OJ, I can see him pairing with The Dornier bomber and holding that partnership. Appart from the goal how was OJ?
All 3 of our strikers score, Simpson looking particularly lively, and we may be paying £2m for a striker tomorrow. I'm hoping for plenty of goals this season.
Simpson looked to have a shed a lot of weight and looked to be lightning at times. Stewart when he ran with it looked very good, and his one cross was perfect. Oli did fairly well coming on, Evans and Cairney had bright spots. Dudgeon was playing left back and left wing all in one, and had a hard time doing it. Chester and Coops standard, Mcshane was alright to. Nothing spectacular, nothing awful just getting minutes under their belt. Mind you our new keeper, i won't attempt to spell his name looked to be getting a tough time from their centre half who insisted on jumping at his ribs and not jumping for the ball.
At times it felt almost like a 3-4-3 formation: Macca - Chester - Coops Stewart - Cairney - Evans - Dudgeon Fryatt - Koren - McLean
I was at the far end of the ground when Bruce chased after a ball that trickled out, he tried but didn't manage to reach it. He uttered those immortal words 'you c***' quite loudly. It made me chuckle and I was glad I was not the dad of the 10 or 11 year old lad stood next to me, trying to explain what that word did or didn't mean.
Simpson looked very sharp. The best condition in a city shirt. Mcshane also looked to have lost a bit but grown his hair.Thought it was Forlan at first.
My thoughts on tonights game, for what they're worth: The formation looked like some kind of 3-5-2 at first, Koren played in the hole and Stewart was on the right and Dudgeon seemed to be the left winger leaving a back 3 of McShane, Chester, Cooper. I noticed the pitch was very long and the ball just wouldn't move on it so they were really struggling. We had a bad half to be honest and it was alarmingly similar to last season: McShane miscontrolled a simple pass and ended up wiping someone out, Evans was mobile but kept giving it away, Stewart seemed to lack confidence, Cairney looked a cut above the other players and Fryatt still refuses to shoot when put through on goal and instead just dribbles all the way to the keeper (FFS!). Second half we were a lot better, Simpson looked really lively and Stewart got much better as the game went on. The strikers took their goals well but the penalty seemed a bit soft and probably wouldn't have been given in a proper game. Didn't realise the defender was Bruce at the time so cheers to whoever pointed that out. robingram you must have been stood right next to me if you heard his utterance!

Dudgeon I think was egged on to get up as much as possible. We looked a lot more threatening from wide positions than we normally have. But knowing Dudgeon he wanted to stay up there! It might not even be a bad idea to start both Dawson and Dudgeon. The lads looked sharp tonight and I was especially pleased with Simpson's performance. He looked up for it and I think we should sell him for a nice fee. This season, I think we can look forward to a lot more goals! Let's start with thumping the Seagulls on the opening day! I noticed a bloke stood next to me at the game tonight, had a Brighton training jacket on. Scout maybe? Or just possibly doing some research for the Season opener?
Think it was Brucie Jnr that said it. EDIT: Anybody know how we conceded? I know it was a loose ball in the box, but what lead to it? Badly dealt with cross or the ball being passed around on the deck and then when we intercepted cocking up one of our own passes/touches?
It was pulled back from the byline on the left, can't really remember how it got there but an attack down the left side I think.
Assuming you mean our left, I'd guess Dudgeon was caught upfield in his dual role which let them in on that side 2 vs 1 with Cooper.
It could have been worse. Alfreton 14 - 0 Sheff Wednesday http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/foot...394?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed
