  1. A fail to see how 3.5 million was a large amount of money.

Considering it was the most we spent during the summer... It was probably all of our budget, therefore it was a large amount.

We spent like 800k on Ben Arfa's loan did we not? And £1million on Perch <doh>

    Perch was a bargain <whistle>.

I think Tiote & Perch are prime examples of why we should sign players from abroad.

It's a bit of a silly argument really, there have been plenty of expensive "proven" prem players that have turned into flops too. Just look at the likes of Owen, Torres, Woodgate, Keane, Jeffers, Chris Sutton etc.

It's not necessary to risk huge amounts of money on proven strikers. Instead of buying one player for £20million on 80k per week, buy 3-4 players at £4-£5million each on sensible wages. You might get a Xisco or a Gonzales but you're just as likely to unearth another Tiote or Ben Arfa. I'm much happier now scouting Europe for new stars than I would be buying Torres for £50million or Carroll for £35million, it just seems obscene. Especially now the FIFA fair play rulings are soon to be enforced.

Agreed. I would hate nothing more than seeing us return to the days of trophy signings and players who are only coming for the money, not the game.

I haven't heard much of Gervinho, I had a look at his Wiki page:

On March 17th he has been heavily linked with a £12 million move to Newcastle United along with fellow striker Moussa Sow. Gervinho was quoted saying "Newcastle are a good team, but Lille are currently top of Ligue 1 and I want to play in Europe next year, so we'll have to wait until summer to see where I am going"

Don't know if people are aware of this?

I hadn't heard that, thanks God. Perhaps we should take the League Cup more seriously next season. I don't give a **** about the trophy but the potential Euro qualification could help us sign players in the future.

I believe Carr is looking around the Dutch league to try to find another Tiote class player.

    Sigthorsson...

Lucas Barrios is a cracking striker and would love to see Kevin Gameiro here. But just because a footballer has played in England doesn't mean he's going to be good. Look at Torres ?

I want some more strong links to Gameiro! We could afford him and probably get him, provided Arsenal don't follow up their reported interest, please!!
