He is a winger under Mark Hughes as theres no way he will play in the middle of a 442. I think hes better at LW too in the PL.
Mackie isn't simply a 'dedicated wideman'. Adel can play centrally of a striker, JSP is very versatile and SWP is just rubbish andif this season means I'm less likely to see hiom in a Rangers shirt then thats a bonus. JD you seem like you are a bit too carried away with theory. 'Easy to predict'. Again your oversimplifing things. These are quality players we are talking about supplying quality forwards backed up by quality centre mid's in Faurlin and Diakite. [ I think you are looking to far into things and analysing things that it is too early to analyse. We've not even had a pre-season friendly yet!! Your comments about Fabio and Traore and pro and cons of atacking full back and how to balance with full back on other side is a huge and complex threead on in it's own Fabios 'Mediocre' United career is harsh considering he has been kept out by Evra whilst Rafael hasnt had the same competition to contend with but even so a medicore Man United career for a 22 year old. That is not really a criticism for a QPR player. I accept there are other areas we need to improve but its early July and we will improves those areas so dont worry yet. Likes of Stoke have not even signed a single player yet. Hoilett would improves our squad. So I really dont see what the problem is
Taarabt is not a winger best playing behind the striker. Sorry but swp just has not been good enough. and like i said what about the ACON. as for defenders we have Ferdinand, Hill, Nelson, Onohua and Connelly who can play at the cb and we have fabio either fb onouha rb hill can fill in lb Troare lb and are you forgetting that he has taken young michael harriman who can play rb and even Dyer can play rb ....... so how do we have no defenders???? as for cm again he has taken two youngest max ehmer and Michael doughty so you never know what Hughes has seen in them. plus we have derry Diakite faulin plus taarabt can play in the middle so i dont see where your coming from.
He plays wide under MH but he's not a "winger". His best position is in a free role in the centre of an attacking 3 in a 4-2-3-1. He then can pop up all over the place, interchanging with the other two!
SWP is good enough for 5th choice. In fact we should only have 4 or 5 wingers max. 2 per position plus 3 goalies and couple of utility players to make up the 25. We have Ferdy, Hill Nelson at CB and Onuoha, Fabio and Connoly at FB. 1 injury and we have no CB/FB on the bench hence no depth, 1 injury and we have no CM on the bench either. Listing youth players does not mean we have depth and Taarabt will never play CM in a 442.
We could sign 2 more goalies to improve out squad but would you want to do that if they werent better than Green? Our squad is so unbalanced that theres no point getting players in certain areas because it will mean we are very weak in other areas.
Flyer what are you on mate so your telling me Onuoha and Connelly can not play centre back> We have defenders who can play in a number of positions. Am i saying just list youngster's for depth no im saying if there are good enough then play them. obviously Hughes has seen something in them as he has taken them on tour.
Of course they can but 2 injuries or suspensions and we have 4 defenders when we need 8 of them. We need 2 per position to make up the 25 plus a couple of extra players. Its no good have 7 wingers if it means we only have 6 defenders in the 25.
Ferdinand (cb) Nelson (cb) hill (cb,lb) Onouha (cb,rb) Connelly (cb,rb) Fabio (rb,lb) Troare (lb) Harriman (rb) Dyer if needed (rb) I make that nine defendes and out of that lot you can make a few different stating line-ups at the back.
Ill make sure to keep my opinions to myself in future then. I was just giving my reasons as to why I don't really like this signing and explaining with detail why rather than simply giving a "No I don't like it" and trying to open people's minds up to the cons of the signing. I don't feel I varied off to something not related to the subject in hand or broke a rule. Mackie is a dedicated wideman in Hughes' system. As with the other players mentioned, although Park could play as CM as we are lacking depth there at present. If you read what i've wrote (I don't blame you if you haven't, I quite like talking about my club) I talked about full-backs to winger relationship and how they must support one another. Again, its a con of Hoillett and I was merely explaining that to people as part of why I don't like it. If I wrote something without backing it up, i'd be ridiculed. You and some others are failing to understand that I'm talking about player's roles on the football pitch and their attributes on it. Diakite and Faurlin you can't just plop onto a pitch and go out and win. Diakite needs someone covering his runs because that's what hes good at, Faurlin needs an enforcer to help him dictate play because that's what hes good at. These quality midfielders need to be comfortable in their own position and system before they can supply these quality forwards. If you can't see the cons of the signing that's your own issue. People think that we can just buy any good player, regardless of his attributes, plop him on a pitch and win. It isn't as simple as that. We'll see.
Out of those five only SWP can be classified as an out-and-out winger. Just because someone has been used there doesn't necessarily make them wingers, more like played out of position. If MH sees Hoilett strengthening the squad then I'm sure he knows where to fit him in, along with the rest of the "wingers".
Weve got quite a few CB but looking at that list we only have one geniuine LB in Traore. Connelly is not goo enough,so a big CB and a left footed FB needed(with some pace!).
Isnt Fabio right footed like his brother?. I just get nervous when I see a right footed LB!.Its such a specialised position. I suppose there arnt too many decnt leftys out there. Lets bring Geno Padula back!
