Last summer we apparently spent a fortune on Adebola's wages. On the wage bill we still had Bullard and Ghilas. Bullard and Ghilas were both contracted for this season as well, and therefore the Allams/the club were committed to spending that money. We couldn't very well spend Bullard's wages again on the basis we were about to sack him at that point as that would be evidence of predetermining the outcome. According to reports we offered to reinvest Bullard's wages in January by bringing in Sharp or a PL striker on loan on big money, with Barmby turning it down. He did publically say that he wasn't going to bring in players on deals like that in case it unsettled the squad. (it was the one where I questionned whether he was trotting that out as a line because he realised we needed much more than a striker adding to the squad but didn't want to say so publically and wasn't going to do the deal because then he'd have to deliver promotion with a squad that wasn't up to it) Now we're in the summer and we've offloaded Ghilas as well our wage bill for 2012/13 looks about £3.5-4M lower than it was going to be when we looked at it this time last year, plus there's the savings from Bullard's wages for most of last season. Proschwitz at £2M on a 3 year contract for £15k/wk would be a total cost of about £4.25M, so buying him isn't even committing to spending as much as we were committed to this time last year.
have you got the inside view from Leicestan? how true is it that ben marshall has Dr Allam's number saved in his contact list? when will the announcement be made?
