So DaiSwan=wewontchangeouridenty. Looks like you lot know each other rather well. Are you really as stubborn as norway suggests?
15 + million for Joe Allen would be incredible business. PL players are incredibly overpriced. As much as I don't really want him to leave he's not a top, top quality footballer and I believe Laudrup could replace him + potentially improve on him.
No ones irreplaceable but I would like him to stay (probably fear of the unknown,) for me as he is the heart of the midfield

And what will you spend this £20 m quid on? a player just like Joe Allen who may OR may not be as good. There is enough upheival in the club as it is, i wouldnt like us to start shipping out star players just for the cash. If Joe really pushes for a move away then thats different, then its all about the money and agree £20m is the bench mark
Strange this one. For us to be involved, it would mean that either Allen is being touted by Jenkins to prospective clubs, another club has entered into the buying process (let's say Arsenal for example) or that Allen has made it clear he wants to leave, or has handed in a transfer request. The rumours are being confirmed by people (not the usual 'ITK' idiots) close to the club who have correctly called many things (such as Kenny leaving, Torres leaving, the Borini deal). Who knows. I really like him and would have him at Anfield in a flash for around £10M. Also, the Metro is extremely poor.
I agree that its a strange one, especially as most people down our end are aware he is just about to become a father and doesnt really want any upheaval in his life, i could understand this if it was NEXT season but not now
How much upheaval is there when you're making tens of thousands a week? He'd also receive a decent sign on fee, and the club has people to help with settling in, housing and so on... He wouldn't be in a crisis, anyway.
He didn't introduce our 4-3-3 / 4-5-1. ****ing muppet journalists, there are teenage supporters who have more football knowledge than half of them. This knob probably spends most of his time writing about the soap opera of the big 6 clubs and **** all time watching footie.
If you really understand how football works then you would know what a difficult position joe is in....Its not about whether we offer him more money or that he loves the club...Its about improving his profile and his future prospects and whether he feels he has out grown a small club like ours, he wont go to teams that are the same as us as there is no benefit in that but if a big team wants you then you would have to consider it 100%...Its been known that liverpool were interested in joe when kenny was there and now brendan is there they want him even more. We cant ruin a promising player like joe saying we should keep him or give him a better contract as you will find that is not what its all about with joe. He must take the chance if offered to move to a bigger more established giant of a club that all players strive for........plenty of players who are legends of their clubs have to do it if they are good enough..
Dai- I can totally understand what your your saying there, makes perfect sense but Joe should also remember that he has some development to do still, and playing regular football should be his priority, personally i think he would play at Liverpool everyweek but if you have a look on their boards alot of their fans dont really rate him that highly, therefore a few bad games and the crowd will probably be on him like a flash!! I think a move away to a bigger club is going to happen for him if he carries on his progress, but i think this season will be the wrong timing for him and for us, remember he is under contract and we dont have to sell. If Brenden rates him then his time will come, but i really do beleive under Laudrup Joe can develop and learn alot more, then he could be looking at going to a top 4 club, very difficult one but i think Joe Allen will stay here.
I think he should stay also and i hope he is getting some good advice but its his career and his choice and whatever path he chooses I wish him all the best............
I think we would all second that Dai, a nice honest pro who has worked hard to get where he has,so good luck to him
Ok lads let's put the record straight here! Joe Allen is going nowhere, not unless some ridiculous bid is put in, which I doubt as Liverpool are strapped for cash, so let's just leave this one, as it's window shopping by Rodgers and his scouser brigade, besides if Liverpool do come in for him, they'll only be gazumped by Spurs.!................
It would be great if Joe stays as he is possibly a £15m rated player for us now ! But nearly all players in the game if rated highly enough will go where the top money for them is and feather thier families nest and who can blame them. If he does go to liverpool or another well established club in the prem and does well he knows thier very unlikely to ever go down and he could go on to greater things and the riches that come with it . But if things go tits up for him he will probably not have to step to far back down to a well paid position at another prem team with a lot more experience under his belt. Also there is the case for teams like us being just as ruthless in our dealings with players not as highly rated and getting rid of dead wood even long established players who helped us on our way up but we may have out grown them now . But being ruthless may not be in the make up of our board and loyalty is a one way street where they are concerned giving it to the players who would be off like a shot if they were good enough and getting little from the ones that are good enough, but then thats football !
