    Apparently gone.

Not good looking enough for us anyway.

'Several reports are emerging from Argentina that flop defender Marcos Angeleri has signed a 3-year deal with Estudiantes. Earlier this month his agent claimed a move was all but done, and now it appears to have been finalized.

This finally brings to an end one of the most disastrous signings of the Steve Bruce era at the club, and indeed generally the clubs recent history. Although it must be said, luscious hair. Sadly, his football though never lived up to the standard of his follicles.

Angeleri signed from Estudiantes in 2010 for a fee of £1.5m following over 180 appearances for The Students, and midst speculation he was being chased by Inter Milan and Monaco at the time, excitement was high on Wearside.

When we saw him for the first time, minds were blown. Appetites were whetted and knickers were wet upon the site of this magnificent man-God who might be the answer to our right-back problems. After all, he was on the cusp of the Argentine national team at the time, apparently.

An injury preseason against Benfica put his start to life in Sunderland on a hold, but eventually we managed to see him. It wasn't particularly pretty. Fleeting substitute appearances in the league offered nothing, and a truly awful performance in the abysmal FA Cup defeat at home to Notts County was the icing on the cake.

Since then Angeleri was unofficially "injured" for large parts, and not seen again. That was until his much publicized spat with Bruce, leading to the gargantuan gaffer being labelled a racist by Angeleri. He was many things to many men, but a racist surely not.

As stated, Angeleri remained injured, and now eventually he returns to Estudiantes on a free transfer, ready to join up with his new teammates ahead of a preseason tournament in Colombia.

Farewell Marcos, we hardly knew thee.'

We must have some decent space free on the wage bill now.

I made my mind up about him the first time I watched him at the SOL in the reserve derby game. Considering he was a new signing that had been injured and was looking to endear himself to both fans and watching manager who signed him, he played like he just didn't give a ****. I commented at the time that had his shorts had pockets in, he would have been playing with his hands in them.

He was hauled off after 70 mins and I turned to my pal and said straight away he was a **** up signing. I briefly saw him 2 or 3 times after and my opinion of him deteriorated. One of the worst signings of the Bruce era and the SAFC history - and we have had our fair share of **** up signings in my time - and good riddance from me. We just blew £2m on fees and over that again that in wages for absolutely **** all.

I remember him coming on against Blackburn at home when we were 3-0 up, he was released down the right wing, where he played a cross that nearly made it into the Premier Concourse. Everyone kind of laughed because we were winning at the time, but it was actually startling that he didn't even look all that embarrassed by it, as if that was just par for the course...

Just another one to add to our long list of terrible South American signings - one Julio and 6 or 7 absolute shockers. Not a good strike rate!
