CBK, I can't see any logic in your comments. It's just different and I can't see how the all white would be more acceptable as a home kit than all red.

Alan, without wishing to drag old ground up, how can the all whte strip (which is change from tradition) be ok and the old red not be? I just don't see that. I perfectly understand you not liking the change from tradition, however I don't see the logic in accepting the all white strip. Or, have I got it wrong and it is not the losing of traditional stripes you don't like? Just a question.

The away kit, in my opinion, shouldn´t be about tradition at all. Every club changes the away kit to all different styles and colours throughout the years and that´s how it should be. I´ve always loved Chelsea´s away kits over the years and they have had so many different styles and colours, but they have always had a blue home kit as that represents who they are. Everyone associates Southampton with red and white and it should always be that way. I accept the white strip because it´s our away kit. If that was the home kit and not the away kit I would still feel exactly the same way because it´s not the red and white stripes that we have had for many, many years.

The home kit is Saints because, well, it is a Southampton FC kit. Tradition? Feck off.

To add to this comment - its not just the red and white stripes - 'our kit' has black shorts too. Those red shorts just look so wrong...

I thought that at first - the only thing about the home kit I didn't like - but I thought it looked fine on the pitch.

Dan - its strange really that all the talk has been about the thinness of the white stripe but what actually jarred most was those red shorts...

The red will take a bit of getting used to, but it's not something I can bring myself to get angry about. Football kits are just horrible nylon shirts that are essentially turning people into walking adverts. The sash kit looked good withouut a sponsor, but they're usually just cheap, garish and crap.

I like the shirts and the away kit but I hate the home KIT. Like others, I didn't really recognise them as saints and when the highlights came Jonny brain didn't automatically clock which colours saints were playing in. It'll take a bit of getting used to but I don't think I will ever like the home kit.

I think the main flaw they've had with these kits is that they are all one colour. It certainly doesn't look right. with black shorts and white socks, and maybe slightly thicker pinstripes, but not the traditional stripes, then we'd be on to a winner. I also think livening up the away kit with black shorts would help too.

Personally I'm disappointed we didn't keep last season's yellow strip. Was the smartest looking saints kit in a long time.

All I know is that it's the first time in a long time I wont be buying the kit.

    "just different"

So how "just different" would you allow the home kit to be? blue & white ok? You may have a longer limit, or no limit or just don't care, but it does actually mean something to me that the club has gone down this route with the home kit and it saddens me that fans don't attach much significance to our club being known the world over for playing in red & white stripes.

I hope sales of the kit are overall down on last season's and we revert to a proper Southampton FC home kit next season.

I like how you ignored his main point to pick up on two words, always the hallmark of a solid argument.

I went yesterday, and I have to say that at no point did the kit really cross my mind. I guess I was just too busy watching us play, to really take any notice in what they were wearing.

who gives a **** if i have a solid argument or not? (apart from you, maybe)

It's an opinion and I am interested to know how much of the clubs tradition some fans are willing to see thrown away before saying "actually, I don't agree with that".
