The customer engines will have a field day in China, the top speed of the Mercedes engines is mind-blowing, we saw in earlier races- and last year-that MercedesGP themselves had rubbish traction around corners, but when they straighten out they can power away from the rest of the pack. China does have the longest straight on the calender, so it will be good to see the likes of Force India, MercedesGP an Mclaren take a step forward.
not much point now as the engine formula will finnally change in 2013 so the balance could shift to another engine brand. Maybe even Renault =) who made a big gaff when the freeze came in 2007
The turbo regs could bring back some "new" suppliers, and by new I mean Honda, BMW et al, so not really new at all
Yip, I would agree with those points Manny..Hoping for a better showing from Mercedes this weekend. On last weekends showing McLaren too...Last thing I want to see is Red Bull simply disappearing off into the distance, so McLaren results in Malaysia suggest Red Bull aren't going to have it all their own way this year.... It'll be an interesting weekend...on a side note, Di Resta scoring points this weekend again would be great, fingers crossed....be interesting to see how Ferrari play out the weekend.. Not so good in qualifying but race trim the Ferrari shows flashes of performance, and Fernando's still able to wring the neck out of it, which has impressed me.....no doubting his skill plays a big part at the moment and a better showing from Felipe can only help... On topic with Mercedes power, I'll be keeping a close eye during the practise sessions from early hours later on to see if I can gauge wether the engine and package can really compete here... And would like to think so and get some decent results from Nico and Michael this weekend...
If Red Bull use KERS then I feel Vettel will grab another pole. As much as I think Vettel is a great driver I would want a race where he challenges for wins and podiums. I also think that Mercedes could be a dark horse in qualifying, they have the best DRS system and their engine will be so quick on the huge straight
I think McLaren have the best combination of aero, top speed, DRS and KERS. None of them are particulaly the best in the field, but together on this track I think they have the best package.
