Quite apart from the wages issue, I'm far from convinced that Carroll will fit our style of play. I said as much (at great length) in the tactics for next season thread. Rather than repeat myself, here's the link: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/156245-Tactics-and-formation-for-next-season As for Charlie Adam, I'm not sure I agree with you assessment of him, Super Brian. Even if he does have a Bullard-like tendency (on the pitch), I think that's less of an issue under Jol than it was with Roy, the ultimate system man. Bullard's roving tendencies worked fine under Coleman. As long as he doesn't share Jimmy's off-field trouble magnet - and I've heard nothing to suggest he does - then Adam would be a great replacement for Danny Murphy. I suspect Liverpool would be much less willing to let Adam go than Carroll, sadly.
Is it wrong that I don't want either of these players (Carroll, Adam) because they're incredibly ugly? I suppose it would help if Carroll were to cut off that horrid ponytail. Maybe Ruiz could give him some tips on hair grooming?
It's not wrong, per se, but it seems a little misguided if the aim is a successful Fulham team. I'd rather have 11 who turned milk more than they turned heads, as long as they also turned defenders and turned the ball into the net on a regular basis.
Fullbacks Simpson is signing for Reading and Clyne for Southampton. I've been scouting around for news or a sighting of Mr Kelly but with no luck. Has anybody got any information about his status ??
Only because of the obvious Dempsey interest. Liverpool have officially signed Borini (£14m). However they have lost Maxi Rodrigues (who has 'returned home')
BBC reports £11m, but still a big fee for a player on his fourth club in little over a year. That said, I know little about him.
I'm not sure how serious our interest was (other than he was a free transfer) but it's all academic since he's signed new contract with his homee club Besiktasi - http://sport.aktualne.centrum.cz/zvrat-tomas-sivok-dal-zustava-v-istanbulskem-besiktasi/r~ca9dc7d6cc7111e19d230025900fea04/
Fraser Fyvie We went for him in January and had a rebuff from Aberdeen. The player himself indicated in April that he wouldn't be signing for them and we were said to be back knocking at the door. Last month Aberdeen said - "Manager Craig Brown expects midfielder Fraser Fyvie to be sold before the start of the season, with Fulham poised to renew their interest in the 19-year-old" Today the rumour mill has other clubs, including Wigan, sniffing around. Because of his age and status (not married, Captain) he would only cost the standard compensation fee. Have we lost interest ??
I remember his manager Craig Brown stating that he felt Fyvie was too good for Fulham and that Fyvie should be holding out for a move to a top four club. Doesn't seem to have gone to plan, eh Brown?
Indeed it hasn't and now Sky are reporting that Martinez is about to nip in - http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11681/7901852/
Steven Fletcher Wolves are sticking to their guns over their price - http://www.eatsleepsport.com/sunderland/wolves-want-fletcher-bidders-out-in-open-1445290.html Sunderland are (potentially) more desperate than us and (probably) have more spending money (from Brent), so I suspect are the front runners. But who knows ?
I think since Rodallega signed there's less need to spend £10m on Fletcher. You know, I keep saying we shouldn't sign Fletcher, but who else is there, who we could realistically sign, that could lead our line? Aside from Carroll, who in my opinion wouldn't fit our style and is a bit of a pipe dream anyway.
Peter Whittingham The Sun say that we've had a £2.5m bid for the Cardiff player turned down http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4429639/Peter-Whittingham-transfer-Cardiff-to-reject-Fulham-bid.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter He's got lot's of attributes, not least his reading of the game and distribution. Can't help but wonder if this signals the departure of a couple of our more established players (Sidwell and Etuhu ?)
The only real interest for Dickson has been from Reading and that has gone a bit quiet. And they might even be switching to Sidwell now that he seems to be getting back to fitness. With Barton on his way out, it's just possible they may however have some competition from our neighbours.
Sidders has been linked with both Sunderland and QPR for a while, £2m mooted. I'm surprised Reading aren't in for him to be honest, he was quality for them and they can't seem to stay away from our players at the moment.
