http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11661/7901382/Porto-hint-over-Moutinho Porto are starting to play games like Internacional constantly do. I can see us paying £30m though, so long as Modric goes. We're also bringing over an Aussie goalkeeper for a trial - http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11661/7900885/Spurs-to-look-at-Ryan And another goalie story - http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11661/7900687/Jaime-claims-Spurs-interest Not really top class keepers though are they?
If any of those 3 joined, we'd be set for strikers (although Defoe would be a benchwarmer again). I can't see it though - Falcao's price (same for Hulk) is through the roof atm and I can't see us paying it, despite any 'AVB discount'.
More the initial one got lost in the scrum of Modric posts. Come to think of it, does Lancaster, Fredericks and Archer signing professional contracts make them incoming players? Obika not being among the released irks me...
A few rumours about Julio Cesar flying around now. If we're going to get a new no. 1 he's the best name I've seen suggested so far. Not the tallest but he's well built and would do well in the Premier League, I feel.
So last week saw a fair bit of activity, with Adebayor nearly in and all the releases out - what's people's predictions for this week? Personally - I think the big one will be Modric - I've read a fair few reports that claim Real are on the verge of completing his move for £35-40m. A lot of it may be BS but I think we're gradually moving towards this outcome. At this stage, I'd be really surprised if he were still here come the closure of the transfer window. Adebayor will be confirmed as well (on the OS etc). I think once Modric goes, then we'll see us becoming even more active in the transfer market than we have been. Whether we get Moutinho, Sahin, this Athletico Madrid striker Adrian or someone else, I think we'll definitely be looking to get someone in ASAP. It's actually made a pleasant change to have signed 3 quality players (incl. Ade) early rather than draw them out all Summer.
Anyone know when the Euro 2012 players are due back? Is it next week? I guess we'll lose Ade to ACON this year, seeing as he has gone back on his International retirement. Hopefully we'll have more than Defoe in reserve by then!
Maybe not, just found this... http://www.mtnfootball.com/africa/a...matches/preview/jun-2012/17-togo-v-kenya.html
Togo and Cameroon both progressed to the next qualifying round. They now face Gabon and Cape Verde, so we'll probably lose Assou-Ekotto and Adebayor for the tournament, if things go to form. That's assuming that they get picked and choose to attend, of course.
morning moorph Big news this week I feel. apparently we're trying to get our signings made before the trip to the US, so I can see us making a couple of additions. If the modric deal is as close to being finalised as we think, it'll only give us the green light sooner to go and purchase a replacement, as well as other additions we need. Apparently Lloris wanted his future sorted by the start of this week, so I wouldn't be surprised i we see a goalkeeper such as him this week, in addition to Modric's replacement. who knows, perhaps another striker might be finalised too?
