The agent of Alberto Aquilani insists the Italian midfielder will remain at Liverpool for the coming season.

Aquilani has two years remaining on his contract with the Anfield club but has been strongly linked with a move away this summer. He spent last season on loan at Milan but the Rossoneri have turned down an option to buy Aquilani.

"Aquilani will remain at Liverpool," his agent Franco Zavaglia told calcionews24.com. "He has a contract and hence there is nothing new.

"I would say that at this point the chances that he could go back to Milan are impossible. Other clubs? I reiterate, he will remain at Liverpool."

Aquilani has played 28 matches for Liverpool since he was signed from Roma by Rafael Benítez in August 2009.

Has been said every year - the longest he's been at Anfield was when we were fixing him.

Actually hope he stays.....I'd like to see him in BR's set up......but very much doubt it.

I suppose he could do well in the new set up but I have doubts over his desire to play for us.

Alas, I agree. All quotes thus far have been from his agent; every year the same old tripe, manipulating something in the background whereby he can go to an Italian club on loan. Player power rules, always; just wish we could do something about it.....

allow me to translate this agentspeak.

through literally some minutes on FM i have become fluent

His agent is threatening LFC that unless they agree a patheticly small fee and pay up the loyalty bonueses due his player will sit in LFC and tell Borini bad things in italian all season.

this chump is about 50% of the reason why rafa got the sack. had rafa took the 34mil from alonso and actually have been allowed to spend it all and not risk 20mil of a complete lemon then he'd never have gotten the sack.

ironic but true, aquilani is still there on his 4 th lfc manager and is still poison and has no role to play but to suck the club dry.... surely his contract must only have a year left?

If he was a horse we could shoot him AND claim we were doing it for humane reasons <ok> next time we buy a midfielder we should just buy a very average racehorse

  9. If Aquilani knuckles down, works hard and proves is commitment and loyalty to LFC then I'd be willing to forget the past. However, his agent as done this every summer he has been here and every year it changes sometime in August to him wanting to return to Italy. Both Alberto and his agent are full of **** and I pretty much guarantee that come 1 September, Aquilani will be back playing for an Italian club, whether that be on loan or permanently, hopefully the latter <ok>

Well at least he was less than half the price of moaning arse <ok> and we might actually get a few offers for Chad's if we try to "flog" him <whistle>

Well, as ever, my opinion is I really think he can do it for us. But that was never really the question.

Did he want to be here previously? Probably not, but being played every now and then probably didnt help.

With Borini though he may be more up for it. I hope so.

either way he's a 70k per week liability and if i'm right he could just be 1 year left and aiming to use us to get a new club next summer... if that means he pulls a harry kewell and plays for 6 months fine.... but don't ever depend on him on a cold monday night in november... at stoke... etc etc..

The lad can play when his head is right. Great passer, bit lightweight.

Would love to see him stay for a season.<ok> Maybe having Borini around will help him settle?

  16. I hope Borini can convince Aquilani to give Liverpool a proper chance (which we are yet to see) but I doubt it <ok>

Stranger things have happened. If Rodgers fancies him and the lad is not going to give it all the homesick BS, then i can't see why not.

  18. There is one thing for certain, if Aquilani wants to be accepted back he is going to have to dig in, work hard and be very bloody committed to Liverpool Football Club...<ok>

  20. Ignoring all the crap that's gone under the bridge with Aquilani in the past, I can't think of any player currently contracted to the club that would fit Rodgers style better. I honestly hope he stays and works things out but just do not see it happening <ok>
