There seems to be a bit of PC Manager going on with some fans declaring that we have 'missed out' on certain players that are moving. I dont understand? Having not seen the list of targets Martin has compiled this summer, I fail to see how we are missing out on anyone, other than on the ones we as individuals would LIKE to see come. Our targets and those of MoN's are not mutually compatible and he may be after 3 or 4 we dont want or have even thought of. The only time to discuss ones that got away is when we have officially bid and been either gazumped or beaten to the signatures of confirmed players. As far as I can guess, our targets according to most itk journos and tweeters has always been Adam Johnson, Steven Fletcher and Junior Hoilett. Other pure speculation targets include Aidan McGeady and Gabby Agbonlahor ALL of whom have not actually moved anywhere so far and may not even do so. As I have said, we don't even know if these are the players MoN has actually targeted himself and we may well be after none of the above! So, can we stop posting on so called 'missed' targets' until we know we actually have missed out on any we have bid for and cut the man some slack. He has got over 22 years of experience behind him as a very successful manager and I think he konows what he is doing. These 'missed' players may be OUR missed targets but they may not be Martin O'Neill's.
think people are just getting nervous mate, qpr and so on are splashing the cash and we dont seem to be doing anything! personaly im not worried "yet" we had signed about 6 players this time last season and that didnt help haha
Its a bit like the utter pap about Cisse at the craas? Granted he may well have been a target of Bruce's but at no point was he a one of Martins? This complete fabrication that we were beaten to his signature is a false one just as the so called missed opportunities arising now. As far as I am aware, MoN has not missed out on ONE single target he wanted since joining the club last December and the only player he has gone for signed last week. Cuellar. I'm more than confident that come the 18th of August at the Emirates (where I will excitedly be I hasten to add) we will have the personnel Martin wanted all along at the club and this may well include a large selection of the current players as well.
I think the one thing we would all agree on is that we don't want to start the season with what we have, there are 5 weeks to kick off. None of us know who we are going for but we would prefer them sooner rather than later.
