But Warnock will not get you promoted Mr Leeds fan - we know why Leeds fans dislike Bruce (Man Utd connection). there is no doubt that Hull will finish above Leeds again this season. Considering where we are, in terms of players signed, manager and coaching staff appointed and players almost certainly coming to us - compared to just a few weeks ago, plus we know that our chairman will provide the necessary finances to sign the players we wanted (not forgetting what he has done for the local area - compared to a certain chairman who will only be in the country for a certain length of time due to tax breaks. In short Bates is a parasite (hope that is an allowed word on the site) who most fans of other clubs would be quite happy if he never entered this country again). So we have every right to be positive and look forward to finishing in a top 6 place
Your single reason we won't get promoted - Bates - doesn't exist any more. We're getting taken over, and are by all indications past the point of no return. We will be sensibly financed and our huge and loyal fanbase will give us sufficient backing on its own. Warnock has a great chance to get us up. If we're not more fancied for the top six than you by the start of next season, I'll eat my frying pan.
leeds will do well next season, top 8 at least.......warnock is a fantastic manager, second best in the division behind mackay IMO.... of the teams coming down only wolves will challenge for top 2....blackburn and bolton are **** basically... it will be a weaker championship next season and teams like hull and cardiff can profit from that.....
Mackay best manager in the division??? I know you can get rose tinted glasses but ****ing hell... I'm speechless!
For what it's worth, I think most Hull City fans think you're heading in the right direction as well. But of course our definition of the right direction for you, and your definition are likely to be diametrically opposed! But good luck anyway. Has Bates actually gone or is that just wishfull thinking? My impression is he is like dogshyte on your shoe, a lot harder to get rid of than you might hope, and always leaves a bad smell lingering for a good while after. Lets hope you don't do a Portsmouth hey.
Believe it or not I don't give a hoot about the Manchester connection, if that were the case players like Strachan would never be local heroes. I would have welcomed Alex if he had been any good but he isn't. You finished above us, did you make the play offs did you get promoted? Is it that good a feeling to finish just a handful or points above a team with the second worse defensive record in the league and the worse chairman in the entire country? If we can have the **** in charge of us that is Bates, be given no money to spend on players and have the second worse defensive record in the division and still finish just a few points behind you then imagine what we can do very shortly as Bates exits the club for good and we get some decent funds with a genuine top manager in charge.
So as well as getting rid of Bates you're getting a new manager? Who is it? Or have I misunderstood? Is he (or she) going to be an ex player with a stellar playing record behind them, or a tried and tested Giant of Premiership management. Well, which ever it is good luck, you deserve some after the cruel tricks fate has played on you with the last few worthless ****ers you've been saddled with. No seriously, good luck, it would be good to see the Mighty Leeds restored to the place we all know they deserve to be. Oh, and if you've also got the inside track on player comings and goings, can you give us a heads up on who you will be replacing Ross McCormack with? Is it someone good? Or a new talent who'll set the championship alight? You always seem to be able to attrack the top Jamaican stars. Anyway, must dash, going to the pub. Nice to chat with you, if only more people were like you and came on here for a good old football chat instead of the idiotic WUM's that some teams seem to attract.
Supporters Trust Chairman has intimated that all papers are signed, and other reliable sources are suggesting the only hold-up is the transfer of funds. Bates is as good as gone. There will be a lingering smell in the form of his numerous failing vanity projects - Yorkshire Radio, Howard's Restaurant, the planned hotel and leisure centre by the side of the East Stand. Whoever comes in will have a certain amount of **** to mop up, and if they've not already bought Elland Road and our training ground at Thorp Arch, that will be another rigmarole to endure. I believe his name is Jermaine Beckford.
I think we will finish mid-table but nice to see the positivity from some of our fans. Koren/Mckenna/Daws are all aging and we have no plan-b when there is no Roko (as yet) . Proschwitz (if he comes) might take a while to find his feet. I'm not sure what the Hobbs injury situation is but we will miss him if he's still out and he will take time to come up to speed. The keepers will be totally unproven at this level. Still p2 like French Tickler says, reach for the Stars why not, so long as you're not actually a Space Cadet and in amongst them already that is.
Hindsight is wonderful aint it but had to chuckle at Glennonslastpint's prediction of the best teams in the league (admittedly in no particular order) :- "Top teams I predict will be, no particular order: Wednesday (good manager decent squad and strengthening well) Charlton (good manager, momentum from dominating L1 see Norwich & Southampton) Blackburn (**** manager but keeping a decent squad, early signings look good) Bolton (decent manager at this level, seem to be holding onto key players) Birmingham (Lee Clark - still not convinced by him, but still some decent players and Lovenkrands is a good signing) Wolves (don't know about their manager - proven abroad, but the Championship is a different league, not sure how many players they'll lose) Leeds (love him or hate him good manager - depends on takeover/funds) Huddersfield (good manager, some really good players Hunt/Rhodes - depends if they stay - very wealthy owner) Middlesbrough (good manager/money to spend/decent squad) Us (great manager, young squad with much promise, need to sprinkle in some experience in key areas - a bit naieve at times last year)". Good to see we crept in there, shame none of the others even made the play-offs, haven't checked but think most were in bottom half and Wolves even got relegated, who'd have thought that.
