Yeah, but to be fair Chelsea were going all out for the CL towards the end of the season, and that made them cool off a bit on the PL. I didn't see us finishing higher than them either.

I just don't see it next year. I think Di Matteo will be the right man for them. He won them the CL and the Cup. And they already have fantastic players signed up.

 

Think your optimistic personally I think we will probably be 7th, realistically somewhere between 6th and 8th.

 

I think 6th but I wouldn't rule out us doing a bit better than that. Maybe I'm overly opptimistic but I see a lot of quality in the squad. If we add a full back, centre back, and a forward/striker or two, then I think we'll be a threat to all again. I aslo think Santon and Cabaye will take a massive leap in performance this year.

Could do better than 6th, but Tottenham or Arsenal would have to underachieve, or Chelsea would have to have a repeat of last season.

 

This. 6th-8th and a good european campaign with youngsters using the extra cup games to further their development, I'd be very happy.

 

Can see us doing well in Europe and possibly one of the cups.

 

It would be a good season in a way, but I'd hope we'd qualify for Europe again, as I doubt we'll hold on to some of our best players without European football.

 

6th usually guarantees Europe, 7th there is a chance.

 

I see why some people think this, but remember that the other big challengers also have European football to be concerned about.

So people going on about how European football will take it's toll, it wont just be a burden on us.

I have faith that we'll make all the necessary signings to get the job done.

5th is the highest I see us finishing. 4th is an outside chance. I'd say 6th would be the most realistic prediction IMO.

We could have a good campaign, but if we finish 8th, we'll not be in Europe next year, and I think we'd lose HBA and Tiote definitely. Cabaye and Cisse quite possibly.

 

Well, first up, I'll be envious of this, Debuchy is superb, I must have mentioned him on the SAFC board 200 times in the last 2 years.

Re Santon, there's really strong talk of him going back to Italy ain't there? Sampdoria couldn't do it, wage wise, and wanted a loan, but Fiorentina & Roma are supposedly looking at bids.

Debuchy is better all round than Santon, although Santon is a few years younger, but if you were to get Debuchy, shift Santon for £6-8million, and go for Bedimo Nsame, who you've been linked with (and again who I've been plugging for 2 years on our board), you'd have perfect balance and shape, and would be a genuine top 4 contender.

I can see this all happening, and this deeply upsets me, so hopefully Malaga drop out of CL, and tank you in Europa!

 

Not really. We might just be better than them. I'm not saying we defo will, but its possible. I just think we have a lot more to offer.

 

Must admit straight choice, I'd go Santon and see him as the better all round player. But I do rate Santon really highly and think we have yet to see his best as he played out of position and took time to get used to the pace. Something Debuchy will also encounter.

 

I'd say Santon certainly has the potential to be as good, maybe even better, but I think you may be underrating Debuchy.

He is outstanding going forward, and very, very solid at the back, as it stands he's way ahead of Santon, only age is against him, IMO.
