http://www.goal.com/en-india/news/4...5/barcelonas-afellay-offered-to-arsenal-inter Afellay apparently officially being offered for just E6m to Arsenal and Inter. Worth it for that money? He's 26, experienced, has had 18months of learning the Barca way. He's meant to be a bit of a disruptive influence though (like M'Vila). I'd consult RvP - maybe he'd help to keep him at the club if they're buds!?
Afellay is regarded by many if not most Dutch fans as their best player, above RVP. Perfect signing for Arsenal. But I do not hold my breath - Wenger never buys a good player just because he pops up on the market, even if it is a bargain. if he thinks we have enough decent players in his position he will never go for him. Even though he is better than what we may have. Wenger never improves on what he thinks is already good enough. He only buys if there is a real problem. It is really sad. Sometimes you just need to grab a great player while he is available, and then sort it out. He actually could be a fantastic replacement for Walcott, if Theo leaves. But because Wenger apparently does not believe Walcott can leave, no Affelay, i am afraid.
You have to remeber Afellay started out as a playmaker - the guy is a very good passer of the ball. It was his pace that had teams play him outwide. The guy is very versatile. When you consider how the versatility of Benayoun helped us last Season bringing in a player like Afellay seems to make sense.(it would also possibly help RVP decide to stay on)
I'd get him!! Otherwise I'm afraid the savvy Levy might try and snap him up, and he'd REALLY benefit Spurs if Modric leaves.
What a beast. He had an injury but I'm sure Wenger can get his form back. Don't let the scum snap him up, Wenger.
same as i heard....errr...dare i ask the source is reliable twitter personnel?...by the name of ben fairthone or c_arsenal?
I hope you're both right and we sign M'Vila and Afellay. That would be enough to make sure we challenge for the league next season... as long as we don't get horrid injuries.
Hypethetically if we sold RVP and use the money to buy Afellay and M'villa we would have quite and awesome squad. With everyone fit... --------------------Sczeney------------------- Sagna----Mert/Kos-----Vermaelen---Santos Walcott-----Wilshere------M'Vila------Afellay --------------------Podolski------------------- --------------------Giroud-------------------- With a strong bench: Oxo, Arteta, Rosicky, Song, Gibbs, Gervinho. or maybe... --------------------Sczeney------------------- Sagna----Mert/Kos-----Vermaelen---Santos -------------M'vila-------Arteta--------------- -------------------Wilshere------------------- Afellay------------Giroud------------Podolski
I seriously doubt that, seeing as Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben are far, far better. I agree with you about not going for him though. Like I said in another thread, AW won't be interested in any more attack minded midfielders as I think he seems to love our current batch. He'd be a pretty good player for us in my opinion, if he avoids the unfortunate niggly injuries players seem to get after coming off a serious injury, he could really make an impact for us, and for just £6 million, it wouldn't even be much of a risk. But, I just can't see it happening.
haha the press's way of showing appreciation of arsenal players! http://www.insidefutbol.com/2012/07...to-shortlist-in-central-defender-hunt/65376/?
Lots of sources saying we are now close to signing Brazil International 'Ganzo'. Paulo Henrique Ganso is a 22 year old playmaker for 'Santos'. He is 6'0 tall, technically excellent and already pushing Kaka for a starting place in the Brazil side.
