The only good thing about this is the court case is over. Personally, I am sick to death of the sight of John Chavvys face all over the TV/Newspapers, the lying chavvy, ****ish ****y ****!!!!!!
I am so relieved he has been found not guilty. For a dreadful moment I thought the once England captain was a racist low life. What a relief!
Magistrate drove away from the court in his new Jaguar, clutching his corporate box season tickets for Stamford Bridge.
it sets a really dangerous presidant in my opinion, anybody now accused of racism can now qoute the terry defence
Calm ............ What difference does it make? ... Has it changed the nations view? .... the backlash from the terraces will haunt him forever. The standard Chelsea stereotype again has been damaged due to him ... In time that will erode his standing inside the club ... Both Cole and Terry aren't very popular regardless of the fact that they are good footballers... In the long run this **** sticks Two men who wasted glory and stuck two fingers up to the very people that worship the game.
Absolutely. The words used, the non verbal communication - especially the facial expression - makes it quite clear, beyond any reasonable doubt, that a man was being abusive to another. Given the words used (not denied by the defendant), that abuse was racist. The (non)reasonable doubt has been introduced by clever lawyers who treat the law as a toy to be manipulated by their schemes. Justice hangs her head in shame.
In all honesty, people have taken this whole load of pony way out of context, QPR fans are particularly annoyed because of who he is and who he plays for. How I see it, it should never have even got to court....on the football pitch insults of all kinds are thrown at one another, from things about your mum, to your personal apperance, personal life and in this case the colour of ones skin..... I couldnt give a damn about the case and the fact he got not guilty doesnt bother me.....people need to be less sensitive over words and get on with their lives.
Except that Terry's Defence only worked because apparently no one else heard what he said. Essentially, it was one man's word against the other, and obviously the magistrate didn't feel he could say that Terry's guilt was beyond doubt.
Agree 100%. The bloke is still an idiot and generally unlikeable. This is gonna be a superb season, lots of developments on and off the pitch......let's focus on all that from now
Good points, and worth remembering that those few words, said in anger at, admittedly some provocation from Anton, have caused Terry and his family a lot of anxiety over the last 7 or 8 months. You can argue he's had punishment enough...and move on
I have to agree. I wouldn't condone racism for a moment but I think Ferdinand should not have pursued this. He should have called him out after the game and sorted it out man to man.
I should doubt the FA will/could do anything without a guilty verdict. I do hope that Anton keeps well away from any backlash from this and can move on ASAP. I really don't want to hear his side of events in the paper for the next 3 months and don't think it will benefit him in the slightest. JT is what JT always has been. Not necessarily a racist but an odious individual who thinks he's above every moral responsibility that 99.9% of humanity seems to share. Except for QPR-Chelsea games, I'll assume it will be business as usual next season and this whole sorry affair will drop out of the rest of people's stream of conscious pretty soon. No winners and a bitter taste in the mouth but could we expect any different?
I wasn't going to comment on this thread, it's all over now, but Kerry, this makes my blood boil. How many times does it need to be said that Anton DID NOT MAKE A COMPLAINT. An off duty police officer did and the CPS decided to prosecute. Anton said IN THE WITNESS BOX that he did not think it should have come to court. He could not have stopped the court case at any stage. What the **** is so difficult to understand about this?
JT 1-0 CPS I wonder if it had been one of us that had "allegedly" said what JT "allegedly" said to a member of the public - what would have happened?
