Just found this and think it is a fair outlook of the season to come especially with our difficult start. http://georgeweahscousin.com/2012/07/13/patience-is-a-virtue/ Might even keep this to remind myself occasionally.
Ssssh, it goes against 'the vision'. Next season will be triumphant return for Southampton, and within 5 years we will be challenging for the champions league with a team made up of England regulars!
I don't think that's a particularly good article, as all it does is point out the blindingly obvious. Anybody who expects us to win as many games as last season is clearly blinded by bias, and anybody who says at any point that Adkins should be fired is obviously struggling with a botched lobotomy. That said, I see no reason why we can't stay up.
Nothing Ssssh about it. We'll see who's right, and who didn't read the signs right, in a few seasons time. Whilst CL may be a little too much for some, that's quite clearly the aim. If all you aim for is survival, that's all you get. And you may not even get that. I don't see all the infrastructure, plans, etc... adding up to mere PL survival. Or what would you prefer..?
I agree, Godders, but the poster is right that we will need more patience this year. This will be a learning curve for Adkins, the team, and the fans. We have to learn to lose again. Nigel must be given time. How patient Nicola is will be the real question.
My two cents doesn't count for much, but......I think you guys will be fine. I remember us and Swansea got slapped 4-0 on the first day of the season last year and it was a huge reality check, but turned out alright in the end. However, this season, I really can’t see anyone in the league who is much further behind anyone else (eg Wolves). Of all the teams who came up I think West Ham will struggle the most because they are having unrealistic expectations of what to achieve when back in the Prem like we did. Apart from the top 6-7 teams, everyone can beat everyone else…….
No Thought Police either. You have your view and I have mine. Mine is the correct one, as you'll see, in seasons to come.
A Rabbi was once asked what he did with the foreskins from the circumcisions he performed. He said that he had collected them all and sewn them together to make a nice little briefcase. The questioner asked him how much it could hold and theRabbi said it depended on how hard he rubbed it.
