Absolutely brilliant signing. If any of you watched him at the EURO's you will know he is a great player.

Agreed mate. Even though we disagreed on something the other day, we both agreed that our new style towards the end of the season was awesome, and bringing in players like this will sure help us maybe push for 4th.

I doubt it, but I reckon 5th is very, very realistic, now Spurs are losing Modric.

    City
    Manure
    Chelsea
    Arsenal
    Newcastle
    Spurs
    Liverpool
    Everton

I think the wheels will come off at Chelsea next season for Di Matteo. They had a lucky cup run but were unspectacular in the league also. I can see them finishing 6th again

Indeed he is but we already have a fantastic right back in Davide Santon. Its a leftie we need.

No we don't. You've raised this point many times, and a lot of people disagreed.

Santon proved how dangerous he can be cutting in on his right in attack, and his defensive performances steadily improved over the season.

I think so too, especially with maybe 1 or 2, perhaps 3 more additions, Newcastle will become a bigger force next season. Hopefully you don't lose any of your best players either, but if you do, you will be massively compensated for it; although it's only a small consolation for losing someone like Cabaye :embarrassed:

We're not going to lose Cabaye. I'd put my house on it not happening.

I have because he is a right back. Its probably a bit strong to say we need a left back because Santon can play left. If Debuchy does come in it will not be the end of the world to accomodate him by keeping Santon left. The problem you get is that at some stage Santon will want to play right I'd imagine (he prefers it - his words not mine!), particularly with a view to international football. The Italians see him as their future right back hence he captains the 21's there.

He does do ok on the left but is much more vulnerable positionally and far less effective in attack. Again that is his opinion also as he notes he has to cut back to cross when on the left which is not ideal. There are of course benefits to right footed players playing left side, one of which as you note is cutting back inside. But its not rocket science there are far more benefits playing on your natural side. And of course because he is comfortable using his left, he can still cut in!

I kind of agree, but If Pards thought it was that much of an issue, I reckon he'd be signing a LB right now, instead of a RB. Pards obviously has faith in Santon.

He's got some developing to do, but I reckon he'll be great for us next season.

If Perch can do a decent job at LB, being a right footer, then Santon can.

I agree with the Pouchinator, but think signing Debuchy is still wonderful for our squad. Either a young left-back/cheap old back-up would be a good addition, because then we could have Debuchy and Santon as general first-teamers, but can mix it up for the additional games with Raylor/Simpson(depending on which one leaves) and X(a natural left-back). Having Santon and Raylor as adaptable players a big plus, but we only have 3 full-backs in this scenario and have to push the likes of Ferguson or Jonas back.

I don't see it as essential, but it would be better for squad balance in my opinion.

I think it's Arsenal that could be due a slide down the table. Heavily reliant on RVP, don't think Podolski is much cop. That Giroud wants to be something special or they may struggle I think!

He wouldn't leave for Arsenal, and you have Arteta anyway, whose very similar to Cabaye. :)

We're looking very dangerous indeed if we seal this deal, keep hold of our better players and bring in a couple of the others we've been linked to.

I would predict we'd be well in the mix, 3rd-7th. Assuming we avoid injuries I think we can cement a standing in the upper section of the league.

Sorry, but I don't see how we'll compete with Chelsea next season.

Hazard, Torres, Mata, possibly Hulk, Lampard, Ramires, Marin, Kevin De Bruyne ect

I'd say 4th maybe, 5th is definitely doable.

Personally I fancy Chelsea to push Man City for the title but with Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool (yes, I think they will have a better season) all going under a bit of upheaval I think it's hard to predict.

If I were to give a direct answer I'd say 6th place for us but if some of the big nrw signings don't settle, I think anywhere upto third is going to be within reach. I certainly didn't see us finishing above Chelsea last season, did you?
