I see no quotes from him in that article so hardly taking all the credit. Yet I firmly believe that we would not be competing in the best league in the world right now if it weren't for our board, the supporters trust and of course, the chairman. You've done an outstanding job gentlemen (and ladies), take a bow.

"The 54-year-old chairman’s reign has seen the club go from near extinction to joining the ranks of the Barclays Premier League, beating the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City."

Exactly. So why shouldn't he be honoured by the City's university?

As swans-m points out he's not "taking credit" for anything is he? At least we haven't had a chairman who fleeces the club leaving it with a mountain of debt or a foreign one looking to use it as a vehicle to make a load of money and gain kudos in his own country, gutting us and our identity in the process.

    Remind you of someone? <whistle>

    Just another bloob wum.

However,it is gratifying to see the lower leaguers taking a continued interest in the day to day happenings of the first, and only Welsh Club in The Premier League.

Oh how empty their world is.

It's a little early to be talking in terms of a "Knighthood" for Huw Jenkins, but his status increases by the day,so,who knows what is around the corner.

Why is every thread by a Cardiff City fan viewed with such scepticism?

In my opinion he deserves a knighthood.

We must be looked at with envy by a lot of Premiership and Championship clubs in having a Chairman and Board who actually have the club at heart. It makes a refreshing change from the ever growing number of clubs who have people at the top who have taken the club for all they can or who are in it purely as commercial proposition at the expense of the supporters - no names spring to mind of course!

    Aussie!
Why don't you just put me on ignore or just not comment on this thread? You have an unfortunate propensity to be very insular.

I put this informative thread up because there's not much happening. If a jack had posted it, the usual name callers would be fawning over one another to post a syrupy reply better than the previous one.

I just don't see why he deserves the award that's all.

Sorry,JJA,but this guy didn't post this thread for debating purposes.
It was meant as a sideways poke at Huw Jenkins.
    Surely you can see that?

"I just don't see why he deserves the award that's all".

So it's lucky for Huw Jenkins that no one has seen fit to consult you.

That must have been a real blow to your ego then,eh? :emoticon-0116-evilg

Rather have credit being subject to interpretation rather than blame at some ... unmentioned clubs

    Ego Vetch?

Why didn't you just ammend comment #10 to save yourself posting comment #11, it would have saved you posting twice?

Since Jenkins has been slowly pushing us to the top , Cardiff have had Sam , Peter & the Malaysians slowly pushing Cardiff over the edge on more than one level .

This is a tiny bit funny, c'mon. The very nature and tone of this thread has a slightly sarcastic feel.

As for the idea of this being a decent debate, I'm in...

I think Huw Jenkins in not solely responsible for the situation we're in, but he (as the Captain of the ship) should be recognised as being the figurehead of an extremely successful story.

He was the man who brought us Brian Flynn to keep us in the league.
He was the man who brought us Kenny Jackett who took us up as league 2 champions.
He was the man who brought back Roberto Martinez to take us up to the Championship as league 1 champions.
He was the man who brought us Brendan Rogers to take us up to the Premiership as play-off champions.
He has now given us the chance to play our second season in the Premiership with a manager who is considered one of the best players, EVER!
He also facilitated the construction of a new stadium. (I know Bluebirds or Redbirds or Red Dragons or whatever contest the ownership or payment of the stadium, but it's there either way).

I suppose if you were to draw the comparison with other Chairmen from Wales, he's doing quite well by the club and the fans.

We've needed no street marches or media polls or suffered no destruction of our heritage for the security of the club.

I say give him the bloody degree.

Fair play Shaper, a well thought out post. The turning point for your club was indeed the decision to bring back Martinez. If anyone deserves the honour it should be your former manager. Brendan simply tweaked the foundations laid by Martinez and was quite fortunate to get you out of the Championship.

    "a failed business man".

Well, considering there are ex jail birds sitting in the House of Lords,I don't see any problem with Jenkins getting knighted for his services to Swansea City F.C.

The fact that the award will really piss off those numpties up the M4 would be a bonus. :emoticon-0116-evilg
