Fulham Football Club is delighted to welcome Hugo Rodallega on a three-year contract subject to the player obtaining a work permit. The 26-year-old Colombian international striker joins Fulham on a free transfer. Speaking earlier today at the Motspur Park Training Ground, Hugo Rodallega said: âIâm thrilled to have signed for Fulham Football Club. I wanted to stay in England and Iâm delighted that I now have this opportunity with Fulham. I would like to thank the staff and fans of Wigan Athletic for three and a half wonderful seasons there. Iâm looking forward to pre-season training with the rest of the Fulham squad and starting a new chapter in my career.â Fulham FC Manager, Martin Jol, added: âI am delighted that Hugo has decided to join Fulham. There has been a lot of interest in him from other top flight teams in England and abroad, so to be able to add his quality to our squad is a massive boost this early in our preparations for the new campaign. He is a great addition and I think he will contribute very well to our style and philosophy here.â
I'm not his biggest fan but I do think he is better than the strikers we have lost over the last 6 months, BZ, AJ, The Pog. Which is only a positive thing Also he is only 26 so hopefully Big Maart will get the best out of him. COYW
He's a free, which i think is important seeing as some of our big money players don't seem to have thrived with their price tag (or lived up to it actually - looking at you here Johnson) so quite happy. He's big and strong and quite quick so I think he will do a decent job.
Go along with that. Other positives are his age, got some pace and experience in the PL, so I can see why Jol believes he'll fit in. Also, and I really do not mean this in any disrespectful way about Wigan, but I think the Club ethos here will suit him better.
Agreed with all, we're short of strikers and him and Petric on frees are great signings. I'm genuinely excited about Rod (can't call him Rodders because that's Trotta's name!) signing, I think he's a good addition to the group! Also, rival fans will love the fact he's called Hugo
With his pace I am hoping he will give us a bit more up front in the style of Saha. Last season wasn't his best, but I think he is unselfish and gets a lot of assists.
Agree SuperBri. Tell you what, he's certainly as they say 'athletic' as seen in this clip - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkuF9GbTuio&feature=player_embedded
What a beauty he hit against Villa! Bids, there's some dispute over the price for BZ, at times it was as high as £8m and others as low as £4m. Kind of a believe whichever you want to scenario.
Agreed with all the above, Ali Mac and his crew are working overtime to do some quality business, 3 players with international experience and not a penny spent. Very excited about this, now we just need to keep hold of the rest of the squad, Dempsey included. COYW
His Wigan goalscoring record is about 1 goal every 4.5 games, his career is 1 in 3- hopefully we will create more chances for him and get a decent return. Both Zamora and Johnson were around 1 in 4. He was rated highly after one of the youth championships a while back. In one of the old PES games he would develop into a beast of player- but then so did Alan Smith, so I'm not sure what to take from that. I think he rated himself quite highly too http://www.superhattrick.com/2011/03/im-undoubtedly-better-than-messi.html
Silkship I noticed that you stated that BZ & AJ averaged 1 goal per 4 games. If you split them i think you will find AJs record was about 1 in 5,shocking,I am sure Hugo can better this record. ROLL ON THE NEW SEASON.
Yes, it's great value, but whether it's a great signing depends on him rediscovering his best Wigan form. Good news though.
The first time I saw Rodallega, he was running circles around our defenders and causing all kinds of problems. After the game (like, two years ago), I thought, he would be good for us. I think he'll like working for Fulham and Jol. We just need him to perform and stay healthy - which to my recollection has never been a problem for him. Hopefully, Ruiz will come out of the blocks (like Dembele last years) ready to play at the EPL level, so perhaps the combination of the two will get us some more goals this year. Depending on Dempsey is not an good option. Even if he starts the season with us, I doubt he'll be with us in January.
Good morning Bandy Wrong way of looking at it, he's going to be replacing Dempsey. He's an OK player, not a bad signing, but definitely a downgrade.
As Bidley has already said, Dempsey plays as a left winger, where do you think Pogrebnyak and Zamora played when they were with us? Jol only plays one up front and it was not Dempsey. Considering he was free and only 26, I'd say he's a damn sight better a signing than half of the players you have signed up Although I do rate Fabio.
