I almost forgot about Jelle Van Damme. Why didin't we try and hold on to him? Good full back, and a crowd favourite.
If i may join in, Egil Ostenstadt (spelling?), he was quality...if I wasn't going for the obvious ones.
Good call. And you remind me, I always liked Andrew Surman. He did very niceley for me in my fantasy premier team last year, for a cheap buy.
Yeah, very good player for us since he arrived from Wolves. Starting to recapture his early form he showed at Saints, not the quickest but has a knack of being in the right place at the right time. Happy to see you guys back in the PL where you belong. So many good players produced in your academy, think Lallana will be huge for you this season. Definitely think you will stay up.
I think we'll stay up, West Ham as well. I'm a little worried about the teams that did well last year but have subsequently lost their manager, namely Norwich and Swansea.
Matty is always going to be in my top 3, in practically every category except slimmest. And even then, he was slim when he was in his early career. The other two would have to be Peter Osgood, who I loved even when he was Chelsea, so it really made my day when we signed him. Smashing bloke and player. Bit of a toss up between Ron Davies and Micky, but I think Ron nicks it, simply because I thought he was a leaping God [I was only around 10], rather than a footballer. If I had to leave out Matty, my next favourite player was also from the 60's - Fred Kemp. How about that one, oldies..?
Martin Chivers , jimmy Gabriel ,David Webb ,Dennis Hollywood and always liked Tom Jenkins but never quite fulfilled his talent
Pahars Beattie Oakley Niemi unlucky to miss the cut. I guess it shows the era which I grew up in. Of non-Saints (at least at the time): Shearer Owen Gerrard
He went because he did not want to play in the championship. I think his comment at the time was something like "That is not football it is war".
Great player as you say but also a great bloke. My Uncle and Godfather was involved in local football in Windsor where Peter came from and he knew Peter and his family very well. He was so pleased when he he made it to the big time but still found the time to visit him in hospital in Windsor when he was seriously ill.
Ossie was my boss once - it was hard becasue he was a saints hero, but in people terms he didn;t do any favours for me and I found him a little arrogant (probably with good cause).
