Thank God we had Lowe and Co. and not Gaydamak and Al-Fahim/Faraj/Insert Fake Arab Here. Did I really just say that?!
Now that is interesting. They are diluting the amount that Chanrai and Gundeymak can claim if I'm reading that correctly.
I get the feeling that the FL have a pretty good idea who the new owner might be and that they think there might be a possibility of money being diverted to settle a selected debt and then blow the other creditors followed by the folding of the club. This is all a bit of a headache for Birch and you if wonder after today's points anouncement together with the Kanu business this could just tip the club over the edge.
I must admit I feel for them. I cannot believe that we were virtually in the same situation just 3 years ago - before Markus & Nicola we were relegated and were going to start on -10. We have been on an INCREDIBLE journey going from that to now. Whilst I don't want the same journey for Pompey, I hope that they have a little of luck and stay languishing in L1 for a few years
Been saying it since day one, trying to keep the current club alive is just a waste of time for fans. There are just too many issues to overcome and too much legacy debt. Its ONLY because of the secured debt that Chainrai wants back that he's made an offer, he doesn't want the club, just wants to bleed out the parachute payments & bugger off. Club should be liquidated and fans should start a phoenix club in the non-league. I'm sure the city council would take over the stadium as a last resort so they'll keep Fratton and get shot of all the parasites like Chainrai & Gaydemak. Would help matters if the Prem League came out and said they are stopping anymore parachute payments. Would speed up the inevitable.
Totally agree there CBK. Portsmouth are the footballing equivalent of Greece without the nice weather. Both are bust, and the sooner everybody realises this and stops trying to 'save' them, the better for all concerned.
So what are the chances of them starting the season in League 1 then? Let's say they are still in admin, Birch is in charge, they miraculously find a 16 man squad, will they be allowed to kick off? If not, when does a decision have to be made one way or the other? Presumably not 2.59 on the first Saturday.
I still feel sorry for the genuine blue fans who have by now probably already bought into the new season and could get stuffed.
We were never in the same position because we had assets and, whatever people think of Lowe et al, they did the responsible thing and went into administration as soon as they realised that they couldn't legitimately carry on trading. The pity was they didn't do it soon enough to prevent our -10 points...all's well that ends well though. Portsmouth should be chucked out and a new club started from the bottom. If the fans get behind it they could do well as they have a good catchment. Chanrai has no intention of running Pompey...he wants as much money back as he can and the saga will just drag on. End the pain now and restart the club.
