Lots of interesting little articles so I though I'd group them here. http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/raheem-the-first-lfc-interview "The manager likes his wingers to press high up the pitch, so I'm working on that to try and impress him at an early stage and I'm looking forward to it. "I'm not the tallest or biggest of lads, so it's just really about doing more strength work so I can be ready for whenever I am called upon. "His attacking style of play suits me perfectly but I've still got to work hard in training and try to prove myself and hopefully it will pay off. "I can't take anything for granted, I've got to work hard, day in and day out in training, and the manager has said if you're good enough, you're old enough, so that's nice for me to know." http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/suso-wants-local-duo-in-euro-final "I hope I get some minutes and a chance to show what I can do," he said. "I am really happy at the club and I want to stay. "Before I made the choice to move to England, I thought to myself that joining Liverpool was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I felt that if I kept improving throughout my career, I would have the opportunity to play for a big Spanish team but the Liverpool offer might have never come around again. "Going to play football in another country and learning English was something I wanted to do and I am glad I did; I love England." http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/suarez-hits-three-for-uruguay Luis Suarez scored a hat-trick as Uruguay came from 2-0 down to win 6-4 in a friendly against Chile on Wednesday. Uruguay's Olympic side were two goals behind when Liverpool's No.7 instigated a stunning turnaround, banging goals on 31, 35 and 47 minutes to leave the scores at 4-2. He was then substituted around the hour mark. Edinson Cavani (2) and Abel Hernandez were the other scorers for the hosts during the 10-goal thriller. Sebastian Coates was also in the Uruguay side. http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/sterling-we-re-already-improving Sterling made his Liverpool debut against Wigan in March this year, when he was introduced as an 85th minute substitute to the delight of the Anfield faithful and the youngster remembers the moment manager Kenny Dalglish told him to get ready to take to the turf. "It was a shock to be in the squad," admitted Sterling. "But it was really exciting for me and when (Dalglish) said my name, I was like: 'Me? Are you sure?' "So I put my shirt on and it just didn't feel real. It felt like I was dreaming and when I got on the pitch, I got caught up in the atmosphere of the stadium. It was one of the best experiences of my whole life.
Im loving the fact that so much on the liverpool website at the moment is about Sterling and Suso......I think they really are going to get their chance this year and they are going to really add to the teams potential...... We may not be making marquee signings, but in these two I believe we will have a couple of potential world class players in the squad this season..... And from what brendan is saying if they are good enough, they are old enough..... ill be extremely disappointed if its all talk and we end up just going with the recognised names all the time again without giving the real talent a go.
in contrast i ignore all the hype around kids on the website and think such hype ruined pacheco. i hope coady for example is not thinking he'd made it cos the website is always on to him. I hope suso and sterling have the right attitude and know the website stuff doesn't mean anything in terms of them actually making it. suso last year had a good 6 months of poor performance but then he buckled down and work hard.. hopefully he's learned to apply that
Players are always going to get hyped at some point. Its just important to make sure that they dont buy into it. And certainly from what Raheem says, he is manging to keep his feet on the ground...Suso i think aswell. I wouldnt say Pacheco is ruined yet....Although i do think he has had a terrible year.....i think the mark of the man will be how he deals with a fresh opportunity and to see if he can convert his potential into an asset for us.....The guy is still very young and could have a big impact pre-season.... To be fair, Im probably guilty of bring one of the people who hype the kids up more than most......But I never miss a Rezzie game and since the days of rafa, ive seen the youth as our future..... i think we should make a big deal out of Suso and Sterling, as we are bloody lucky to have them, and i want them to feel wanted at our club so they dont get bored of waiting and look elsewhere.....
i also like to see all those games... my opinion on pacheco is based on seeing him absolutely shine at spain u19s to becomeing a bit part player at u20s and then last preseason he got a couple of chances and was dire, the effort levels are just not there, the will to make the extra yards and look like he wants it is missing. I cannot see him suddenly turn that on. we shall see. suso i think had that 6-9months where he was relying on not much more than a few tricks to get by and was on the bench. he's really turned that around and borrell must be credited with that....i just think exposing them to interviews and such so young can make some big headed and the player i see not developing currently is coady who really should be doing better... need to watch him this year to see if he picks it up
What about Wisdom, Mogan, the American/Bulgarian, and I hope to hear more good things about Pelosi as he is a good leader of our youth 17's and one for the future I think.
Suarez is going to be amazing this coming season. Luis Suarez scored a hat-trick as Uruguay came from 2-0 down to win 6-4 in a friendly against Chile on Wednesday. Uruguay's Olympic side were two goals behind when Liverpool's No.7 instigated a stunning turnaround, banging goals on 31, 35 and 47 minutes to leave the scores at 4-2. He was then substituted around the hour mark.
Suarez could really be our Van Persie this season and by that I mean, with his goals ensure we are at least fighting for 4th. The problem would then be keeping him but if we got 4th and CL I think we could break the bank on some proper signings to keep him happy. The team needs to be built around him as he is a level above.
Yeah I'm looking forward to him playing a whole season for us, 1 or 2 signings and I'm hoping for a good season.
I think he will definately get goals and assists but not on the 'Van Persie' scale as I believe he will be playing on the wings of a 4-3-3 as an inside forward rather than as the main central striker. But I can only see him getting better and better in what will hopefully be a controversy free season...
wisdom could be brilliant. he's got that little bit extra over and above other defenders on the ball, i thought he improve a bit this year. would like to see him pushed to RB and come into the firsts at RB, he should spend preseason working o nit and be ready for europa or league cup there. morgan is good but... he's just not got the pace to make it at a top 4 club. he's a good finisher, better than eccelston but he's like linfield. we've made pelosi into a left back so it'll be interesting to see if he does well.. he could play left wing for example. lb could make him very good. textiera from lisbon (spelling) is someone we need to see as well cos he ble our guys away and yet we've not seen him.
You catch my drift, the catalyst of the attack that keeps us in games, helps turn draws to wins, etc. He still bangs them in for Uruguay from the wings as Forlan or Cavani were up top...... now we just need to get cavani in and all will be well! I hear napoli want Carroll
pelosi at LB? Hmm strange that one. Ya, if the hype is true then Teixeira could be spectacular for us..... or another pacheco ( sorry think he is done with us, hope he proves me wrong, but can't see it).
Just seen the goals. The 2nd was a really good goal and from such a tight angle. But we all know that Suarez can score them type of goals, made up for the lad
We are really lucky to have Borrell and he has done a great job on Suso. Agreed on Coady also, hasnt developed over the last season like we hoped he would. And pacheco has it all to do...I think im just hoping on that one, but you never know he could put in an awesome preseason, get the nod in Suarez posiotn whilst olympics are on, bang in a couple and we will all forget what a mare h has had the last season....(Heres hoping anyway.) the way I see it is that Suarez is going to the Olympics and he is probably our closest player to Suarez style, so there could be an opportunity if he is willing to take it... It used to do my head in last season, when Suarez was out we would completely change our style of play which is really unsettling, I think brendan will look to keep the same style. he may do nothing, but the fact that he was sat in the front row when the team met brendan has given me hope he is going to give his all......He does have an advantage in terms of pressing football. He spent last season at vallecano, who were near the top of the stats table for interceptions in the opposition half, something with our new style we will be looking to do. brendn might use that..... (All one big might.)
Red - I agree re. Suarez. Our attack was so poor when Suarez was missing, there was no dynamism, no invention, no creativity, no spark. I think Rodgers is keen on getting rid of players like Carroll etc because he needs players who are versatile so that there are no disruptions if a key player is missing, and that we can keep a consistent system which everyone is used (from first team to u18).
i think if suarez plays all the games he'll gain more consistency and get 25 goals for us.. he got 17 in a disaster year yeah? IMO he's the only bright spot for us. reina looks like he's not trying agger will get injured, gerrard is past it, lucas has a worry about fitness, carroll is/is not going... suarez is the one world class player we have. if we can improve 10% in all positions and solve playing for only 20mins not 90 then we can get 4th...
What if we improve 11%? In all seriousness though, we need players that can link with Suarez where they can make him better and I think he will make them better. Buying Downing to help Carroll was the right idea but unfortunately we overpaid for an average player in Downing and should have got much better for that type of money. It was a conflict I think having that sort of mentaility with Suarez looking for more incisive play, hence why he did much better with Kuyt, Maxi, Bellamy when in attack.
percentages.....**** yeh....Now we are talking Most important percentage is the shot conversion......For long period s of last season we were convertina baout 3% of opportunities.....If we could get it up to the 13 everyone else had we will finish top 4.....(so long as we then dont forget out to create chances.)
