Looks like junior Hoilett is heading for QPR. If rumour is to be believed, why is it that we always seem to be slow in the transfer market ? <grr>

Here we are heading out to South Korea for a pre season tournament with only one new aquisition. We desperately need a decent striker to compliment, Wickham, Campbell and Ji, a right wing man and a proper left full back.

Come on MON, pull yer finger out and keep up. All the good ones will have been snapped up. <steam>

Just one other point, I know it's a problem competing for players with 'London' clubs, all the bright lights etc, but how come QPR can afford to pay £50K+ wages ?

I know Ellis has put a lot of dough into the club already but if we are to achieve his ambitions and the ambitions of every Sunderland fan, surely there needs to be a rethink of our wage structure and it's cap.. Top players won't come to us for peanuts.. We are well positioned to push on but quality doesn't come cheap. Maybe I've seen too many built up expectations as a Sunderland fan only to have my dreams crushed but it's starting to feel like I felt after we finished 7th two years on the trot and didn't invest... I hope I'm wrong but I'm learning to manage my expectations a little better.

Cos their owners are mega mega rich, and seem intent on spending a tiny part of their wealth.

All the things you hear about MON's targets have come from the papers not from the club

I'm starting to worry a little. We only have 4 weeks to kick off. No real striker and a team that limped home at the end of the season.

    Qpr are going nuts

    I will say it again.

Newcastle have proved we don't need to go after the best players by reputation, spend millions on transfer fees or have an over-stretched wage budget.

We will not pay the wages apparently, yet if other clubs do what does mean ?, this reminds me of 10 years ago. If we had put a good run in at the end of the season i could understand it, but we were poor and that is frightning and they better get the record book and don't make the same mistake a SEVENTH time. I think by Dec we will know after a good run of home games where we stand, and we had a 20 goal a season striker but sold him, we could pay for not giving Bent big wages.

Dont see how this spending is sustainable with ffp and 15,000 home crowds
