"he hasnt even defended that well" Worst quote I have heard this year on this board. Bardo has been magnificent in defence this season, hardly any wingers have burst past Bardo this season as he is great at staying on his feet and blocking crosses etc. One bad game against City and hes back to being average etc, 3 goals and two assists playing out of position is a bit better than average. I think you are on your own when labelling Bardo as average after the season he has had.
na mate im sure im not, even if people dont care to say it. He lets his man get to the byline and get a cross in way too many times and doesnt tuck into the centre back when the ball is down the oppositions left which creates room in the box for the striker. Hes full of energy and good at tackling and in general putting his foot in but you can tell hes a RB playing LB, not his fault and im sure he would be better at RB. Its only a little thing but if the talk is of Europe next year, its issues that need to be addressed. Maybe he can develop this in pre season. It must be hard switching flanks but for me, i would be buying 2 full backs in the summer. Therefore i wouldnt give him the captaincy for just the last 7 games on the season considering there is doubt about if he is going to be starting.
The only thing I agree with you is not giving him the captaincy. He has without doubt been our best defender this season. To say he doesn't defend that well is absolute rubbish. I think you're in for a rough ride on this thread tonight!
I can't believe some of the comments on here! If you say we should be moving on Bardsley then say goodbye to the rest of the squad. He is the only player to have given 100% since our slump began! He has carried knocks, played through the pain, scored a screamer, been our player of the season and still you want him to go? He hasn't got the worldwide name like Asamoah Gyan, Sulley Muntari or Daryl Murphy* but he can't half do a job at the back and lets not forget he's played out of position for the majority of the season! * - possible sarcasm....
I would have a one legged Bardsley at LB before a fully fit Richardson who's idea of tackling is to stand still and watch, or a last gasp foul. If Bardsley was moved on before Richardson, Sunderland would be in very bad shape. Like I have said before all opinions. (But trust me I'm right! )
do you not actually want an attacking actual left back. Everyone is saying bruce cant take us foward but Bardo aint a top full back like it or not. Why dont we sign paul robinson? hes tough tackling and plays through pain? thought not.
I would love an attacking left back and hopefully we will sign one next season and move Bardo to right back, he is an attack minded full back when playing on the right but its certainly not his fault he is out on the left. Trouble is finding a quality left back is not going to be easy and will be very costly if we want a good one
l/b always seems to be a problem, and not just for us, look at england,. bardo has done great for us, and i expect its gonna be difficult to find some-one better to play there (who we can realistically expect to sign), but as good as he is, sorry no to being captain, well not season anyway..
Just a suggestion here, Why not move him to CM and see how he does? He would probably do a better job than Zenden and Malbranque, shoot and could put a tackle in.
