Perhaps he is just smarter than us then and we are mere puppets dancing to his manic tune.

    Most probably.
Anyway, there is so much good stuff going on at the moment that I'm going to leave him to it and ignore his nonsense!

    Not likely! :cheesy:

Matt, that was a fantastic response. Pretty much nailed on with everything. Contrary to what COL thinks, I have not changed my stance but I'm now very aware of why it has provoked such vociferous condemnation. And again contrary to what COL thinks, I haven't taken this stance just to get a laugh. That would be one perverted sense of humour if that were true. In all honesty, I expected up to half the people to have the same view as me. I was genuinely surprised by the level of antagonism there was which immediately became apparent.

In my (outdated?) view, what happened should have ended with the post-match handshake. Respect Matt and Willy for your calm, measured and constructive responses.

COL, you're gonna have to learn to live with diversity of opinion because you have a SERIOUS problem with that mate.

There wouldnt be a problem if everyone ignored him, put him on the ignore list as hes just a troll, either that or the dumbest QPR fan Ive ever come across on the boards. either way hes not worth bothering about.

Sick of the whole thing. But it does make me laugh that anyone can use Ashley Cole as a charater witness - classic!!

Having the likes of 'fat frank' and 'cashley' and the rest lining up to act as character witnesses to Terry did remind me of an old episode of 'Top Cat' where TC had been sent to court by Officer Dibble for illegal gambling in the ally. When the character witnesses were called they were 'chooch', 'fancy' and 'benny the ball'!!

The parallels between them as regards both integrity as well as intelligence are astounding!! :emoticon-0136-giggl:emoticon-0136-giggl

So. Has peace broken out or just an uneasy ceasefire? As ever in such debates, we have now reached the point where we can see that the differences between us were actually only ever small differences of perspective. Swords is always welcome here but does get paranoid at times. In the words of the twat who went out first time in the Apprentice a couple of seasons ago, we all need to learn to "roll with the punches" and not see the red mist every time someone disagrees or puts forward a more controversial view point.

Well said Yorkie. I hold my hands up.

However, if that applies to me it must apply to COL as well.

Prosecution and defence summing up their cases today. The balance of the evidence so far would suggest to me that Terry will be found not guilty as the prosecution don't seem to have nailed the actual phrase in context beyond reasonable doubt. It may not be what most on here want to hear but the Magistrate will be treading very carefully. Even if not guilty Terry comes out of it with what little is left of his reputation tarnished and Anton hasn't benefited from the fall-out...

Suspect you are right Sooper. Just hope the Magistrate isn't influenced by the profile of the case, but 'reasonable doubt' is the name of the game and the whole thing seems to hang on what Terry did or didn't say when his mouth was obscured from the cameras.

Finally have 5 minutes to post on this. I was one of the first members of the SAS and was on the brink of burning my badge. (We did get badges, right) when you pulled it out of the fire Swords. You are a fascinating character. Northolt - that Jeremy Kyle mock up is priceless.

At the start of the trial I thought the defense of being sarcastically racist would hold as much water as a sieve but the longer it has gone on the more I am convinced John Terry will get off with it.

His lawyers have not stopped saying it is all a waste of time and for the case to be dropped, he obviously has more money to spend on a decent QC than the prosecution who have not gone for the jugular at all.

Get ready for it, he will walk out of that court with that smarmy cat-who-got-the-cream (and-shagged-the-cat's-best-mate's-bird) look on his ugly mug. Anton, who I believe has been unfairly blamed for all this, will come away looking like a fool.

Hmmm. No response from Yorkshire on that. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

Bit slow off the mark - but Cashley did marry someone that was charged with racially aggreviated assualt previously, that got downgraded to assualt.
