People keep mentioning the fact we're signing these players from Manchester United as if it's something to be proud of. It isn't. Of all the players we've had from them, only James Chester is of any quality.

Just because someone is signed by Manchester United as a kid doesn't mean they're going to be brilliant, and the fact that some of our fans take it as a given that they will be is cringeworthy. The approach that these 'top clubs' take to youngsters is rather like commercial fishing. They just rake in every 13-to-15-year-old who looks like they could end up being half-decent and discard the ones who clearly aren't up-to-scratch by 18/19. We, Hull City Association Football Club, are like Eric Cantona's proverbial seagulls, flying along behind them hoping to get a decent meal out of the slurry being thrown overboard.

Cory Evans = Scholsey (kind of!). Fact is, if Cory Evans did = Paul Scholes, then he would not be at Hull City

I might be wrong on this but weren't Man U. reserves the most successful reserve team last season and if that's true they can't just be half decent?
Also apart from Dudgeon (who would have to replace Dawson) the other Man U. players have all held down first team places this season. Compare that with the likes of; Cullen, Cairney, Devitt, Cooper, Bradley and East who are all around the same age.

<doh>

I don't give a **** if Man United's reserves won the league. For a start, it's a ****ING RESERVE LEAGUE

As for their reserves being better than ours, I have two points to make:

1. We have no academy, and won't do for the foreseeable future as the money that was originally earmarked for the development of one had to go on clearing our massive debts;
2. I may be in a minority, but I'd quite like to see some players sign who, I don't know, are in their prime, or at least have a fair bit of experience in professional football. I.e. Not past-it old donkeys like Adebola, but not footballing virgins like Joe Dudgeon either.

I don't get why you're swearing, this isn't an argument.
The point is that most managers like to have a good blend of youth and experience in the squad and without millions of pounds the best sources for young players are the top Prem. reserve teams.
I would also like to see a few more experienced players who aren't over the hill, but clubs like ours also have to plan for the long term which sometimes means taking raw young players who will improve.

Meh. Words are words. In my mind, "****" has no reason to be more insulting, vulgar or looked down upon than, I don't know... Nincompoop.

Apparently, West Ham have withdrawn their interest in Ahmed Elmohamady.

Possibly nonsense but I came across this on twitter:

Ahmed Elmohamady of ‪#Sunderland‬ reveals he is in talks with middle premier league club. ‪#safc‬ ‪#Egypt‬

@ArabProFootball

‪#Egypt‬ Intl winger Ahmed Elmohamady rules out moving from Sunderland to Hull City. ‪#safc‬

I'd agree with this more or less. He had some games last season where he impressed me but for a player who played almost every game I don't think he had enough of an impact going forward. Defensively and in terms of winning possession yes, but when you've already got McKenna in midfield I think you need more going forward from Evans' position and considering how few goals we scored last season you have to look at this box-to-box role and whether the player in that role contributes enough in attack. I asked this a few times last season but can we really expect to score goals if 7 of the 11 players on the pitch are primarily defensive?
