He's not a well known person, and not a lot is known about what he got up to on a daily basis, apart from the fact that he apparently lived as a pauper voluntarily, donating every spare penny he had to the poor. He secretly hated the people around him for 40 years, and dropped a bombshell on them when he died. Probably not the most exciting life, but I wouldn't call it a waste.

Jackie - not really. Apart from his work, he was never afraid to voice his opinions. See his views on Jesus being the son of God, also his arguments with the church etc. Also he always maintained he was agnostic which wasnt the 'done thing' then either.
