Will this one do? http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JP9OiUP__qY/TOvcwZU0hsI/AAAAAAAAAk0/-18UP-_Bipk/s1600/funny+stupid+monkey+pee.jpg
the fact that the rumours are starting to flow like the calder from 'ebden down 'appy valley is getting the enthusiasm going for me. having said that i ve never heard of either of those two names
I can see what Erik means about Evans. It's cool to have a go at McLean for lacking ability and just being able to run around, but I think it's a lot more applicable to Evans. The good thing about Evans though is that he knows his limits so he doesn't try the 50-yard pass or shot from outside the area, but it's still deeply upsetting when he misses from within the 6-yard box and the 'keeper on the floor, as he did twice in one game last season.
That's not really a fair comparison. It's not Evans' job to be a goalscorer, that's a bonus. Evans has lots of quality, he's a good passer of the ball, he's calm in possession, he's got lots of energy, he can put in a tackle, he knows the position and he has intelligent movement. And let's face it. We're a good side. We finished 8th last season with a team who are growing together. None of our first choice players are **** or anywhere close to being ****. It's just nonsense.
I agree with everything you say apart from that he is a good passer, i thought his distribution let him down last season at times. However, he is young and that part of his game can and probably will improve
I'm not saying I fully agree with Erik and would go as far as saying Evans is ****, but I can see what he means. Evans lacks technical ability the same way McLean does but hardly anyone mentions it. He's very similar to Dean Marney in that respect, the key difference being what I said before that Evans knows he can't find the passes that Koren would or score from the same distances so he doesn't try.
Evans is quality; he can play anywhere in midfield or defence, has a good range of passing on him, chips in with a few goals now and again and has a good work rate. He's much better than Marney.
I don't think Evans is **** (compared to genuine **** such as Harper), he's just the very definition of "meh". He's the sort of player who gets substituted and you think "huh, didn't see him there".
In every 10 games, he'll have 1 where he's brilliant, 4 where he's 'meh' and 5 where he's Harper-quality. In my humble opinion, that is.
Yes but we can't have our cake and eat it. We're in the lucky position of having a good channel for loaning and signing Man U. kids who should be amongst the best young players in the country, but a lot of younger players are inconsistent. It's like all the grief Stewart gets even though he's still learning the game and he had to come back from a bad injury. Its' up to the fans to have some patience.
I think Evans is underrated, he's no Wilshire but he's a decent player and is in a different class to Harper or Marney.
