I am quite excited now to start the season, it looks like the new guys are going to give us an extra dimension to our play. Bring it on! Since the departure of BR it seemed a bit like we were doomed, looking forward to seeing what a cracking Spanish AM player like de Guzman can do with our way of playing, Siggurson will be a distant memory hopefully!
It never seemed like we were doomed. I don't know why anyone would even think that. We are a top team.

Innit. It's become increasingly apparent over recent years that the structure of the club off the pitch matters far more than the individual selected to manage it. Unless the board pick a complete duffer (which they haven't done since Flynn) then we'd have to be very unfortunate to be relegated.
Laudrup & Jenkins are going to be great together . All Laudrup has been looking for since he left Brondby is a bit of respect & Huw's just the guy who will give him it . Lot of things locking in place right now , on & off the pitch.... Could be looking good for a bit of time if we can keep the clan together for more than a season IMO!
This to me smacks of complacency or even arrogance, they say 'a rise comes before a fall' so let's not get too far ahead of our selves, we are still a small club, with a hell of a lot to do yet, before we can sit with confidence.............
If can can finish higher up the table this year (maybe 6th or 7th) then more good players will want to come here. Players from abroad will just know us as a top Premier League club, whereas British players (and some Swans fans) still think of us as a small club. Many people live in the past and don't realise that things change. One day Man U won't be in the Premier League, but fans around now just can't believe that. Just look back 20-30 years. Things change quickly. Rangers in Div 3. Who would have thought that? We are a top club now, so let's not talk about relegation.
So do I too Lone, but unforeseen occurrences can befall any club, neither you no I, not even our Board, can see into the future, it's a delicate balancing act, that too many clubs have failed with, so you'll not find me counting my chickens just yet!............
Top half of table would be good. Bottom half would be a step backwards. Near relegation would be a disaster. But I think we'll be 6th-8th. Hopefully above Liverpool.
Can't see that but hope you're right. Around mid-table again for me. Barring any player losses we're sorted now apart from shipping out some players on loan or otherwise to lighten the wage bill and getting in some serious competition up front for DG. As the OP says, it's looking good.
I love the optimism, but where on earth do you get this idea from? I think we'll be 15th at best this year.
For me, it all depends on the impact that Laudrup makes. If we hit the ground running and gain confidence from a positive start, I can see us anywhere from 10th to maybe 8th at best. If we struggle early on, I can see us battling to stay in the lower half of the table - but I don't see relegation. We have every chance to gain momentum from some decent early fixtures so I'm hoping that we can cement the rest of the season from there. Also, there still might be one or two incoming players who can make that difference. I would like to see another striker and a commanding midfielder capable of dictating the flow of a game.
