Have gone for some not so obvious picks 1) Zenyatta A great american filly, the queen of racing as such! Will hopefully produce some great foals! Not bad looking too 2) Yeats One of the greatest long distance horse long distance horses 3) Sea Pigeon The best dual purpose hose in history! Would have had some great days out with him winning gold!
If it has nothing to do with financial gain then I agree with Shergar. I would have Denman over any horse. Of the three mentioned I would have Big Bucks. He amazes me everytime he races. I love the fact we dont know how good he is! An enigma
It has to be Frankel out of those as that explosive speed is the one thing that al enthusiasts love more than anything in my opinion, there is nothing like seeing a horse put distance between himself and the others in mere strides. Opened out i would have to say Giants Causway as he had that other quality which is to never say die, i have never in my life seen a horse so naturally inclined to race more than him. Some can be encouraged to race some warm to it others don't but he took offence that a horse would try and get past him.
Couldn't have said it better. Big Bucks is my favourite racehorse in any discipline. ..and personally I think he'd have comfortably beaten Baracouda, although I wasn't a racing fan when Baracouda was about - I can only speak from watching clips on youtube. Zenyatta though. The stress and then the thrill of her fantastic running style would be something else.
Zenyatta. Obviously. Despite meeting with defeat that Breeders' Cup night in 2010 was out of this World. And I only watched it on TV. The atmosphere if you were actually there must have been something else.

Some beautiful animals have graced the sport. Sea The Stars was very special and it tells you how special frankel is that he has almost put Sea The Stars in his shadow at the moment. But over time Sea The Stars record will stand up very tall. Kauto Star for me has more heart than anyone will ever know. His willingness and enthusiasm to bounce back as an 11 year old almost had me in tears. His gallant chase behind Denman in Denmans magnificent demolition job in 2008 was incredible too, he lept going and trying to find and that is why those two are two of the most special chasers you will ever remember over 3m+. When I was really young growing up Galileo was a favourite of mine as was Best Mate. I always remember seeing Baracouda win what seemed at the time like every time he run. Hard for me to pick a standout one- I love them all.
Kauto Star always had alot of class, but Im not convinced he had the heart you believe he had! Afterall he became ungenuine in the end, pretty much refusing to go on in the Gold Cup. Denman had the heart Kauto Star had the class, though that's just my view anyways!
Kauto Star ungenuine? Wash your mouth out, sir! I don't think he "refused" to go on in the Gold Cup, he was never travelling so Ruby pulled him up. He'd had that well publicised schooling fall a week or so before, remember. In the 2011 GC, he came into the straight upsides Long Run and Denman, and went down all guns blazing, at the age of 11. After winning his 5th King George, he earned the Form Book comment "ridden out flat:awesome". I don't know how many horses have ever been thus described in the Form Book, but i'm guessing it's not many.
Surely the men in white coats are required . . . ?! After his 4th he earned the form book comment "swept clear, magnificent". I haven't seen either elsewhere. Big Buck's "stayed on mightily" to win his 4th World Hurdle. I think that's unique as well.
Shergs is just having a laugh for sure with the ungenuine comment so let's please not open up the Kauto Denman debate. Anyway I know the horse you'd all like to have owned ideally.
Sorry I forgot, no one is allowed an opinion that is in anyways negative about KS!* In my view he wasn't travelling because he didn't want to, he had had enough! He did the same at Punchestown the year before!* Ruby pulled him up both times, because the horse didn't want to continue!* Who cares what the form book says, they always over exaggerate the top horses in the big races, particularly one as popular as KS*
You must have known Shergar that calling KS "ungenuine" was about the most provocative statement you could have possibly made. If that's your opinion, fair enough; as far as I can see, you have been allowed your opinion. I just hope that it doesn't provoke any comments other than the light hearted ones you received.
He has the heart of a lion. 100%. And on that subject . . . . What a warrior.
You cannot possibly doubt the courage, bravery and heart of this horse. He did things so smoothly but boy did he fight when he had to. P.S. Sorry for the video bombardment, but fantastic memories eh?
How about the battles he had with Our Vic, Monets Garden, Denman and Long Run?* He may have been a great horse, as he had so much ability, but I'm not convinced he was a battler. He always emptied out quickly, and made jumping errors once off the bridal!* Ron...To say he has been ungenuine in a couple of his races is hardly a major insult, keep your hair on buddy*
