I really hope we get Sung, we have some great mid fielders and will be fine but I would really like to see us have a distribution man and he seems to fit the bill. Again, if lives up to potential would be a great addition and would allow us to sell Buzz and I think SWP. While I'm almost happy with our midfield this addition would makes a mouth watering prospect.

On the down side, I sure i read that he wasn't moving to us.

Hulse has more hope of winning a place in the pillow-fight team. But he won't care.. he just wants to pop in for training, take the money, go home and think he's successful.
Rowan Vine all over again!!

If we get him then great , if we don't i'm not that bothered as we have more than enough cover in midfield these days ( with quality also ). I just wonder if we could see Barton used as bait . Maybe send him on loan up there so he can get match fit and be nowhere near our squad . Also puts him in the shop window for a cheap january sale.

Not in the CM position. Derry....old, Ali....will he be fit? Barton....suspended, that leaves only Diakite. Wouldn't count Buz or Dyer.

I think Park may play in CM for us at times this season. Quote from Fernandes: "It was clear our target this time was Park and not Ki, but Ki is a very good player and we are very aware of him. He is a player we will be watching and monitoring closely."

We're in a unique position now, especially with the signings of the like of Park and Cisse, where talented players will start to see us as a preferable option than warming the bench at some bigger clubs. Not always but we've grown in stature remarkably in a very short space of time. And for ki, seeing us sign Park might just persuade him to join.

Ian Taylor just tweeted that it's going to be a busy couple of days with Players and the tour leaving on Friday, I'd imagine that anyone we are currently negotiating with they'll want to conclude the business today or tomorrow before the QPR jet leaves for the Far East.

Oh Happy Days.

Last Year Hulse, this year Park.
Last Year Cornwall, this year the Far East
Last Year insecurity, this year a future
Last Year 18k, soon 45k

I could go on and on, but I'm getting overly excited now.

A little harsh...cant blame the guy for believing in himself and staying to fight for a game...would you want to leave the club at the moment? He was brought to the club on a contract, why shouldnt he get to honour it?

Saying that, really cant see him getting a game. Can see him staying then going out on loan...

Ki Sung-yueng close to deal with QPR

Midfielder, 23, would join forces with Park Ji-sung in the EPL
July 12,2012

Ki Sung-yueng

Midfielder Ki Sung-yueng of Celtic is closing in on finalizing a transfer to the Queens Park Rangers, which would see him join Park Ji-sung in the English Premier League, a source familiar with the negotiations told the JoongAng Ilbo yesterday.

“QPR has completed a deal with Celtic for Ki Sung-yueng’s transfer and the two sides are currently negotiating over his salary,” the source said.

“Ki Sung-yueng’s side and the clubs are all positive about the transfer, so it is virtually a done deal. Ki will play in the English Premier League.”

The deal would pair two Korean nationals on the same English Premier League club for the first time.

Park, a 31-year-old midfielder, joined QPR on Monday, ending his decorated seven-year career with Manchester United.

He began training with QPR on Tuesday ahead of the team’s Asian tour later this month. Since Park’s move to United in 2005, eight other Korean players have played in the English Premier League, and Ki will become the 10th if the transfer is finalized.

Ki scored seven goals in 41 games last season, helping Celtic win the Scottish Premier League.

Formerly with FC Seoul in the K-League, Ki signed a four-year deal with the Scottish side in December 2009 and has one and a half years left on the contract.

QPR is known to have waged a tug-of-war with Celtic over Ki’s transfer fee of around 7 million pounds ($11 million).

Owner Tony Fernandes said at Monday’s press conference to introduce Park that QPR is “very aware” of Ki. “He is a player we will be watching and also monitoring closely,” Fernandes said. Asked about Ki’s possible move to QPR, Park said he welcomed it.

Ki, a member of the national team for the London Olympics, told reporters his focus at the moment is on the Olympics, declining to comment on the issue of his transfer. But observers say that he could attend a joining ceremony with QPR before the Olympics begin.

The 23-year-old will leave with the national team for London on Sunday after a practice match with New Zealand in Seoul on Saturday. QPR is based in west London.

“He’s going to be linked with other clubs. He’s a good player,” Celtic manager Neil Lennon was quoted as saying recently by The Scottish Sun.

“We had interest from a Russian club but rebuffed their offer and we’ve not heard back since.

“He seems pretty happy here but everyone’s in the same boat - there will come a time when we have to sell because everyone has their price,” he said.

Some other European clubs including the English Premier League’s Liverpool have also shown an interest in landing Ki.

The British newspaper The Sun reported yesterday that Russia’s Rubin Kazan, Spain’s Deportivo La Coruna and several German Bundesliga clubs have expressed an interest in Ki as well as QPR, but said Liverpool is leading the way with an offer of 7 million pounds.

The Daily Mail reported that Celtic embarked on a hunt for a replacement for Ki amid rumors of QPR’s interest. The paper said that Celtic manager Lennon is interested in landing another young Korean midfielder, Kim Bo-kyung, 22, who is playing for Japanese club Cerezo Osaka.

Kim, currently practicing with the Korean national team for the Olympics, told reporters during a media event at in Paju, Gyeonggi, that Celtic or English lower league side Cardiff could be his ticket to Europe.

Park and Ki played together on Korea’s national team for two years until Park retired from international competition in January of last year after the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

As both are midfielders, local experts suggest that Park play as a wing midfielder and Ki as a central midfielder.

Would be a great signing. Also, if all parties were interested, then sending Barton the other way until Jan would keep him match fit until his ban ends.

Hes a 6ft 2 CM which is what we need. Hoilett would be the wide man and that just leaves us needing a FB and CB and we are set.
