A week today we re-visit The Lamex Stadium to take on Stevenage Borough FC for the third time in just six months.

Last time out we won 3-1 in a home replay but Stevenage gave us a bit of a scare in the initial fixture taking away a credible 0-0 draw.

For Spurs this will be the first first team game under AVB and may see appearances from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jan Vertonghen, whilst Stevenage will be fielding a hugely unrecognisable team having lost many of their best players including midfield powerhouse Michael Bostwick.

    Previous 5 meetings:

07/03/2012 - Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Stevenage Borough (FA CUP REPLAY)
19/02/2012 - Stevenage Borough 0-0 Tottenham Hotspur (FA CUP)
07/07/2007 - Stevenage Borough 1-3 Tottenham Hostpur (FRIENDLY)
25/07/2006 - Stevenage Borough 0-3 Tottenham Hostpur (FRIENDLY)
09/07/2005 -Stevenage Borough 0-3 Tottenham Hostpur (FRIENDLY)

With this fixture being strangely absent from the Pre-Season friendly list for the previous 5 seasons, it'll be fun to return to Stevenage. Anyone going to the game?

What's the deal with tickets? Are they available from Stevenage? Can't find FA as usual on the OS.

    Morning Spurcat,

Was looking to go myself but it appears that all tickets are sold out for the away end. Considering going and standing in the East Terrace, but not sure on how home fans would be, even with it being a friendly.

Guessing you've made the trip a couple of times down the years, any idea of whether it's a good idea to stand in their end?

There is a reason the fixture was "strangely absent". It's because there was a ruling (maybe still is) that if a PL side used another clubs facilties to play their reserve games, then part of the deal had to include a friendly against that club. This is why Arsenal played Barnet every pre-season. When we switched our reserve games to Orient, which again was due to league rulings (had to play on a FL ground), then we were no longer obliged to play Stevenage.

    <ok>

You'll have no problem standing with the Stevenage fans, there's fine. I stood there for the friendly in 2007 when Adel Taarabt entertained us/drove us nuts with his step overs, and it was all good natured stuff.

Cheers for the info mate, I know a few Stevenage fans that are good natured, but you can always have a die hard section that take it too far, so just had to make sure.

Ahh did wonder about the reason for the absence, but guess that explains it. Do you reckon we'll take a full strength squad for this one?

    Morning deedub,

The club had a link to the ticketing website but all the away seats have been snapped up. Plenty of tickets still available in the Stevenage stands though <ok>

You'll be ok there, that's the main stand. Martin Jol used to nip round back of that stand for a crafty *** when he was there watching our reserves !!!

Haha, I recall hearing that somewhere.

Guessing that with so many seats left in the home stands I won't be the only Spurs fan sitting there anyway.

Are there really seats left ?? I am surrpised considering we're sending our 1st team. I remember when we went there in 2007 and it was sold out and it was Stevenage's highest gate that season, although admittedly they were a non-league side then. There'll be Spurs fans in all 4 stands on Wednesday, that's for sure.

    https://www.venuetoolbox.com/stevenagefc/ASP/bookTickets.asp?homeArea=home&dept=

There you go deedub. There is not a single seat left in the Spurs end so if you want to go make sure you click yourself as a home supporter <ok> Go to the West Terrace right next to the Spurs allocations if you want to sit in an area where you're guaranteed at least two Spurs fans!

I know Spurcat, i was surprised myself, just counted 146 available seats in Main Stand South Wing B alone still ready to be snapped up, and very few are singles like you'll often get.

In fact on second inspection there seems to only be seats left in the corner sections of the main stand, with only around 10 left in the rest. <ok>

Match is less than 36 hours away.

Hoping to see a fairly strong squad with a few youngsters being tested out to see how they cope. Ideal team for me would be:

    ------------Gomes---------------
    -Smith--Caulker--Vert--Naughton-
    --------Sandro--Hudd------------
    -Lennon------Sig------Townsend-
    ---------Coulibaly/Kane----------

Nice blend there of experience and youth.

Of course he will, silly mistake. Replace Caulker with Bassong/Dawson in that case.

What would Ghoddle's problem be HBIC?
