Beat me to it Valley - you're on the ball. A great signing and just the sort of player we need imo. Glad to see that Laudrup's priorities are right on the mark - CB was crucial to get right above anything else after the Caulker departure.

2 million seems a very good deal considering 3 million was being reported as the asking price , still hoping for news on the De Guzman signature now .

Does anyone know if this guy is any good. The reason I'm a wee bit concerned is, Sky have rated him as a 5; which in their system equates to being below average with faults (out-of-touch)

Does anyone have solid knowledge of him as Sky are notoriously disingenuous when it comes to players plying their trade outside of the premiership, Barcelona or Madrid. Sometimes, I think they just make it up you know :undecided:.

I agree knackered, a quality signing for us, and importantly he is our player not somebody we are loaning. But we need cover there as well if monk is going.

I don't rate Sky assessments. His track record is pretty decent - doesn't score many goals but neither does Williams. That's not his job. I think the option to buy for Mallorca wasn't taken up because they're strapped. A few crucial factors for me: he's played in top leagues in Italy and Spain, and more importantly, Laudrup has worked with him and rates him. That has to be good enough I think.

Pay no attention to Sky ratings! He's a good player, and Jonathan de Guzman has signed a loan deal with us having an option to buy as well !...................... <cheers>

Oh I also spotted this on Twitter posted by Leroy lita (@LeroyLita8)

Possibly the reason Danny, Leroy and Wayne didn't win :D

I may be wrong here but didn't Mallorca have the best defence outside the top 2? Two very good signings nonetheless!

For those that didn't click on Scott's link:

"One of the main reasons (on the field) Real Mallorca surged down the home straight in April and May. Alongside Iván Ramis he’s been a solid performer; disciplined, dominating and intelligent. Joaquín Caparrós runs a rigorous defensive system that requires focus and commitment – Chico provides all of that and more so. He’s made 5.50 interceptions per game, hits 4.1 with his clearances and goes into the tackle forcefully. He’s also featured at right-back, as the 25 year-old showed his versatility when Mallorca were low on numbers. An essential player for a team that play the percentages."

    Love it. <applause>

My excitement that Flores is coming is based solely the excitement Laudrup is showing by capturing him . Getting quite excited in general as " Ivorsman " is taking control of the team & seems to know what he wants early in the way of players .
