    Arabi chief mulls buying Newcastle

KUWAIT: Sources at Kuwait’s Arabi Club yesterday said that its Chairman Jamal Al-Kazemi is “seriously thinking of buying the British Newcastle United football club”. They explained that “he has finalized all conditions that enable him to acquire the club by next week”. The actual negotiations with Newcastle owner Mike Ashley will be clear,” they said. Incidentally, Ashley has wanted to sell the club since 2009. He bought the club known as “Magpies” in 2007 for £134.4 million and it is said that he is willing to sell it for less than £80 million.

    ------------------------------------------------

Hmmm, dunno about Ashley selling for 80m, but maybe he would settle for 80m + his debts being payed off?

If the source is correct then he could finalise the deal within a week?

I dunno, do we want Ashley gone? We were just starting to achieve stability.

Just been discussing this on twitter and it is clearly not a reliable source.

I wouldn't get rid actually which says a lot. But I'm not a fan of billionaires buying football clubs and throwing money about. It's not how it was meant too be an it'll all come crashing down one day. We might win a trophy or 2 with a new chairman buying a few superstars. But I think we'll get more satisfaction doing it the right way, the way we are doing it now

Agreed, though to be honest I don't think there is a hint of truth in it.

Can't see it for that price.

To be honest, I don't think I want this. Yes, it 'could' be amazing. But owners who throw money around can ruin clubs. They'll get in a 'big name' manager from Italy or Spain, etc, disrupt the squad by forking out over the odds for so-called 'stars' with huge egos and matching wage demands.

I really like what we have at NUFC. A decent squad, with a good togetherness, managed by someone who seems to get the best out of them and owned by people with, dare I say this, a decent financial philosophy for sustaining the club in a healthy way for many years. All in all, I hope this is just speculation.

I'd rather stay as we are. Maybe we won't win as much, or maybe even anything, but I'd rather that than completely lose the club's identity and become an empty nothing club like City have.

Ashley wont sell unless he's 100% sure it's right imo. If they don't have enough money to do a City with us, then he won't. Though I probably would rather we just stuck with Mike, and kept the business model we have, if we can maintain this success.

The bubble of teams like Man City will burst eventually, if we keep going the way we are we could end up be prime position to take advantage.

    Also agree.
Funny though how we all now seem to want Mike Ashley to stay rather than be bought out by a rich arab like citeh.

Mind you ACS, just think how much rep you could afford with a multi-billionnaire in charge.

We're half way through a five year plan (granted we're a year ahead of schedule) and Mike seems to be getting back into football again. Seriously doubt he'll sell for anything less than a ridiculous offer. The story is way out of date anyway. Do they not realise that things have changed since 2009

we might win a few more with an owner doing it sustainably when it does come crashing down.
