Anton has done nothing!!! But he has been used, by other for their own requirements...Anton is not in the wrong, he has not committed a crime...Being used happens to all of us at some point(s) in our lives. I feel sorry for Anton, and most of us get away with being used without it being a high profile court case
Wish I could predict the outcome, I've got a feeling for Terry getting off scott free. Having said that we have heard so much about this that the actual god's honest truth of what happened may never be known. Personally I think as Beth said earlier in the thread,I don't think Terry is a racist but he is thick as ****e (or words to that effect).
Agree with Imaz, Beth. Anton is merely a witness for the prosecution and nothing he has said sounds unlikely or contrived. Unlike the bloke in the dock.
The biggest problem in this whole saga is the fact that Terry has absolutely no shame and never has had...
No not end of.... calling some one a black footballer ISN'T illegal, otherwise we could have got shot of Lineker a long time ago It is the juxtaposition of the word black with C*** is illegal. Black is not a criminal word.... the two words "black c***" are illegal
Ok. I went and found your question. I am a million miles away from you as I don't think Anton has done anything wrong. I think he's probably been used for others' agendas possibly. However, calling someone a black **** is illegal and racist. I don't think Terry "hates" all black people in that BNB kind of racist way, but I think he should be brought to account for what he seems to have said! We all know that the things Terry is supposed to have said is unacceptable these days and would be equally unacceptable if it had come from Ferdinand, calling someone a "white ****". Beth has missed the point entirely. Calling someone a black **** is saying that they are somehow inferior because of the colour of their skin. Surely you get that Beth? Also Swords, I don't get annoyed because someone disagrees with me. Brix often takes a different view to me and we get on fine (I hope!). You annoy me because, as others are also pointing out, you like to take the opposite view just to wind people up. In fact you admitted as much on a thread a few weeks ago!! We only have to look at the first paragraph of your post here, accusing me of thinking that the world revolves around me and my "crazy notions"!! A statement wholly designed to wind me up. However, you don't wind me up because I have your number.
Terry is unable to distinguish truth from lies. In evidence, the knee in Sanchez's back in that Barcelona game:- QUOTE Chelsea captain John Terry has offered up one of the most least plausible excuses for the red card against Barcelona that will cost him a place in the Champions League Final. Terry was sent off midway through the first half of what was a truly incredible clash against the reigning European Champions after clearly kneeing Alexis Sanchez in the back of the edge of the Chelsea box. The referee saw it, the players saw it, millions of people watching around the world saw it, yet Terry still attempted to plead innocence in the immediate aftermath of the incident, saying: “The player checked his run and piled into the back of me. He put his weight on the back foot, that’s why my knee went up. "I’ve not had a booking in the Champions League this year. I would not deliberately strike another player. That would be madness,” he added. Madness, John is trying to claim that he is the innocent party in all of this. Having been shown the incident again on a television replay, however, Terry eventually admitted that it looked bad and that he probably deserved to be sent off. Amazingly, he still tried to maintain that he was raising his knee to try and protect himself, even though it seemed pretty clear from the look on his face that the red mist had well and truly descended on the ever controversial ex-England skipper. “At the time, I was bewildered because I was trying to protect myself a little bit, but looking at it on the replay, I’ve no complaints. I’ve let the lads down,” Terry said later. "I deserved to be sent off. I tried to protect myself and raised my knee, but realise I should not have done. I’m not that type of player.UNQUOTE
Good point! I have commented that Mr Terry is not at all a racist and this has escalated out of control because of his ego. I feel sorry for Anton also and we all seem to forget that he didn't even know about the silly comments until later that evening. The case is simply a chance to hang out Mr Terry as he has now made a real mess of things. I also believe there are other third party motives for allowing this case to become centre stage.
I'll restate my old assertion - Terry isn't an overt racist but the fact that he can use a fellow man's skin colour as a means of "embellishing" the c-bomb means that he does have something there under the surface. I doubt it is hatred more like a lack of familiarity with ethnic diversity (seems slightly archaic these days but is the best I can come up with). Anton could maybe have diffused the situation but he was already under the club's guidance by the time the media storm hit full force. Anton then has the dilemma of leaping to the defense of a law-breaker and probably taking flack himself for then letting it get to whichever stage he intercedes at. I feel certain that the constant delays have also been employed by all concerned to try to lessen the impact. Anton may have mentioned Terry's previous misjudgements (at least they were about Terry's errors and not references to something he was born with and should in no way feel ashamed of) but also he didn't instigate the complaints and has been caught up in the tidal wave ever since. At this point there are no winners but I'm just waiting for Anton to emerge from this with our full support as a human being who has done no wrong and we can cheer him on in the hooped shirt.
Transcript of Terry's police interview under caution http://www.documentcloud.org/documents/395841-terry-interview.html#document/p1 Has Cole been called as a witness? Terry is using him to confirm that his reaction was because he was repeating Anton's words. If not then why was he not called to back up Terry's version of the story?
