they always fire their jockeys like kinane got the sack for losing his reins on the iron horse in the breeders cup spencer got that job way too young
Not much i fancy tonight, but a couple of interesting runners at big prices are: 6.35 Southwell - Kingsville 40/1 im not sure ive seen many Elite Racing Club types in the Mark Johnston yard, however, this one went off at a pretty short price for a maiden suggesting that he may have been showing something at home over 5f, his next run was over 7f where he was up with the pace and faded final furlong. His expereince in those two races may have settled him enough to be in with a shout tonight and significantly for me he is dropped back to 5f which may see him run into a place, i said earlier missing out on a double priced Mark Johnston winners was a bummer and at 40/1 this one is worth a small EW dabble. 7.05 Fredrick The Great 11/2 showed enough promise over C&D in November last year off the same mark when going off as 15/8 fav to suggest he could be in with shout here tonight. 8.05 Ursula 12/1 EW will love the fibre sand is far to big a price for a stable bang in form and an additional 5lb claimer makes her more interesting. Good luck to those who play tonight, im off to throw myself around the football pitch for a couple of hours
It is a good job he still doesn't have it would rather have Joseph on than that plank BUICK is the boy
The favourite will probably win the first at Uttoxeter but I've not been able to stop myself from having an each way bet on Dr Newlands runner Ahyaknowyourself who is debuting for the yard following a fairly decent spell in Ireland. I'm hoping it will appreciate the ground which is something the Kim Bailey second favourite definitely won't do.
Get in. Well done Famous as well. Have a bit of that. The real racing starts and we're banging in the 6/1 winners.
Hang on. Having horses in training and having a retained jockey require slightly different levels of personal wealth I would have thought.
evening all just having a look at tonights card, will post my selections as they come good luck to everyone!
Over the years there has been a definate trend in the breeding of horses who excel on the Southwell fibresand. Many believe that US dirt bred horses are ideal for the fibresand and indeed it is common practice to look for debutants with this breeding, making their first runs at the course. In a recent interview Hugh Taylor of At The Races examined the top sires on the southwell fibresand by comparing their offspring’s success on the all-weather to their strike rate on the turf. Hugh’s finding’s were very interesting, although some of the sample sizes were small. Sire Wins Runs All-Weather % Turf % Baltic King 5 8 62% 8.5% Refuse To Bend 12 53 24% 8.4% Doneraile Court 12 41 29.3% 10.5% Statue Liberty 11 55 20% 7.3% Street Cry 15 54 27.8% 11.1% Fasliyev 38 213 17.8% 7.9% Dynaformer 7 20 35% 15.7% Shamardal 10 35 28.6% 14.1% Chevalier 9 49 18.4% 9.1% Johannesburg 16 84 19% 10% Dubai Destination 22 106 20.8% 11% Fantastic Flight 21 133 15.8% 8.6% Dr Fong 35 209 16.8% 9.2% Piccolo 78 595 13.1% 7.3% Mujahid 34 202 16.8% 9.2% Dubawi 13 49 26.5% 15.3% Medicean 27 140 19.3% 11.6% Bold Edge 18 155 11.4% 7.3% Elnadim 14 87 16.1% 10.6% Dansili 28 162 17.3% 11.9% Ishiguru 21 141 14.9% 10.4% Noverre 20 128 15.6% 11.5% Elusive Dancer 21 135 15.6% 12.2% One interesting statistic that Hugh Taylor uncovered for the Southwell fibresand sires was that of Danehill Dancer , a sire who’s offspring are regarded as best suited to good / soft conditions, the kind of conditions on the turf that certain commentators would say are ideal for transfer to the southwell fibresand. However the figures do not support this with 14 wins from 286 runs, only 4.9% on the all-weather and 11.4% on the turf.
