Not only does it matter but this case is ALL about context. But you're whistling in the wind mate. The far left Pinkie sheep on here won't give you the time of day I'm afraid.
What really perplexes me about Terry is why he can't buy a suit which fits. I don't think he's short of cash.
Thats an outrageous comment to make Swords. You need to have a serious look in the mirror after that.
Far left pinkie sheep? What makes you say that? Because people disagree with your opinion? Who's far left, who's pinkie, who's a sheep?
BTW DL, how is all this damaging on Anton? Would like to hear your views on that. I ask you as I know you are a reasonable person. Cheers.
Virtually 90% of this Forum. You'd be better off directing your scorn at that group instead of a bloke trying to tell the truth.
Make your mind up! We were right of Genghis Khan during the Euros now we're in bed with Fidel Castro...
Incorrect. You lads were the ones that called me a PC brigader, not me. I've never been of that sort. Just because you boys stick a label on me, don't mean its true. And I never called you right-wingers. Tribalist morons yes but right-wingers no.
So, 90% of this forum disagree with your opinion on something and that gives you the right to call them "far left pinkie sheep"? I thought you were a bit more intelligent than that Swords. The only person telling the truth in this whole sorry saga is Anton Ferdinand. BTW, I am not directing scorn on anybody, including you.
Slow day on the rank, then?Finglas, we've been here many times before; no one's biting so he's cranking it up. Can't you send him some business?
District, this whole concept of Terry repeating what Anton thought he had said in the first place is utterly unconvincing. It's obvious that in the heat of a highly tension filled match, Terry let his mouth run away with him and called Anton those words. It not excusable, but if he'd held his hands up at the time, and admitted it, I for one would have felt some sympathy for him because in the heat of an argument, we are all capable of saying something we regret. I don't think Terry is a racist, but he made a racist remark. But all this flannel under oath is a dangerous strategy, because if he loses he will be branded a racist, a liar and a perjurer. I don't agree there will be wider implications for society. This is about one guy who said something rash and can't admit it now because it may affect his career, present and future, on and off the pitch.
So Swords... someone has a different opinion from you and they're "far left Pinkiesheep". I thought you were one for people being able to put forward their opinions, no matter their perspective. It appears not.
Of course they're entitled to their opinions SW. But on this one, I can't understand how a large group of people can be hood-winked so. I find it baffling.
The way SSN are reporting on the trial they are suggesting that it is Anton who reported the incident to the police and it is him calling Terry a racist. I might be wrong but isn't Anton just a witness in all of this? I don't believe he reported it or made any accusation.
Hoodwinked by what? You're the only thing that's baffling on here! There's every chance Terry will be not guilty as there is the element of 'beyond reasonable doubt' in the case, however, the Chief Magistrate has reviewed the evidence at lunchtime when asked by Terry's barrister to throw the case out, therefore there is a case to answer, what part of that don't you understand?...
Has it struck you that you might have got it wrong? This thread, like so many others, has gone to **** as the unstoppable force hits the immovable object. If no one is prepared to listen to opposing arguments it becomes a very dull read. This is a serious subject, from whatever angle you start looking at it from, and we have ended up with puerile name calling. I await the Chief Magistrates judgement.
The thing is in cases like this a lot of people don't know the facts. From what I've read/heard the consensus seems to be that Anton is accusing JT of using the word black **** as an abusive term directed at him. Now that isn't the case. Anton never made the complaint he is a witness (and obviously a victim) but nobody will remember that. There will wrongly be a lot of hatred directed at Anton by some Chelsea fans as well as some right wing groups. Anton has done nothing wrong but people won't see it like that. I've said for years that there is no difference between religion and football. More people are going to football on Saturdays than church on Sundays. To put it short there are a lot of twisted individuals out there and I wouldn't be surprised if Anton was subject to more abuse death threats. That's what I meant by "damage", this whole thing will loom over his career and it's all he'll be remembered for sadly
