Well, if we are going to talk about logic, then the one you are trying to use is terrible. That great, great thought, that if a European player is unproven in the Premier League, he isn't good enough. How about we look at Ibrahimovic? He is unproven in the Premier League, is he not good enough, Den Zlatan? Is Andrew Carroll better than him?

Your argument is nonsense Ibrahimovic has proven himself in Spain and Italy and with highly regarded teams like Juvenus, Barcelona and Inter Milan.

Giroud has played in France only with Grenoble, Tours and Montpellier, he may well turn out to be a very good player but to talk as though this is fact is wrong. This would be an assumption. In logic an assumption is a proposition that is taken for granted.

    Your assumption is wrong.

Giroud is a superior player to Carroll.

I realize that Ligue 1 probably doesn't get much respect here, but I do think the top goalscorer in France that played for the Champions would be considered better than a sometimes player for a mid-table club in England. (OK -that was naughty, but I couldn't resist)

It wasn't naughty, it was spot on. 8th-12th = Mid table.

I'd wait to see if Giroud is better than Carroll.. He has started to pull his finger out and to his fairness he does charge down players for the ball (fouls them 90% of the time but it's the effort that counts).

Plus.. I had a load of my mates who are Arsenal fans saying Gervinho would be amazing last season after scoring a few in pre season and IMO he was a let down...

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you here. Effort counts in an Under-12 village league game; in the premier league, effort is not enough.

I think 100% of players put in effort when they play in the premiership. What is often seen as a lack of effort (e.g. Arshavin) is poor fitness, or bad decision-making on whether to track back, not a lack of effort exactly.
