We did far more for the world than bad, that's a big fat fact. I could go into a big ****ty reply but can't be arsed. But to quickly sum up 450years of history by deliberately misconstruing particular aspects of history whilst whitewashing vast swathes of the good that the Empire did is 'self'-flagellation at it's best.
So everytime someone says something bad about something they are duty bound to say something good about it as a kind of leveller?
When they're giving it laldy outside your door it doesn't sound as if the numbers sre dwindling although they probably are. My wife thinks they turn up the volume at our bit because they know she and some of the neighbours are tims !
This is true, it's also true that when passing a chapel they will play one of their more 'lively' dittys. The numbers of actual OO members are falling but the bands still do alright I think.
No - only when it's about "our glorious past" So, we murdered hunners o ****s - but we taught them to play cricket so all's fair. We took over 90% of the profit from all trade done anywhere in the world at one point - but we invested in barren countries so all's fair. We stole half the world's natural resources - but top-down Reaganomics suggests that we actually did everyone a favour. I think I can get the hang of it eventually.
This is true. Only civilised people play cricket, which suggests there's still hope for Pakistan despite the influence of the Taliban and other assorted ****s. I'm fairly ****ing sure Northern Ireland doesn't have a team, though. Explains a lot.
and pulling a rope connected to that fan thing on the ceiling keeping the officers cool in "it aint half hot mum".
