If you consider the limited chances fletcher had at burnley and wolves and he still has stats of 1 in 3 then you can.

He would get twice the chances in our team. Put him in yours, ours or Liverpools team last year and he would have been close to 20 goals imo.

Caroll will never score 20 goals in a season, even in Barcelonas mighty team he would struggle.

Fletcher is quicker, more mobile and a better finisher and at 25 coming into his peak. I think 15m is a bit rich for him but I also think if will get a hatful of goals in our team with Larsson and McClean supplying crosses and Sess behind him and that's before we add to the team.

There's a £20 million difference (more like £25million in reality).

Fletcher has scored consistently in the Premier League for 3 seasons (Carroll hasn't...).

I think they are very similar in terms of ability, both are very decent strikers.

The mousers have said Carroll would be allowed out on loan, incidentally, as Rodgers can't fit him into a system.

I agree but at the time the price was paid, Carroll was tearing the league a new one (as it where). If you compare Andy Carroll of Winter 2011 and Steven Fletcher of Summer 2012 there is a world of difference stats wise. Think of it this way. How much did you sell Darren Bent for (I would Google it but I am lazy)? Is Fletcher a better striker than Dazzla (circumstances are similar)

In saying that, Fletcher is NOW a much better striker than Carroll. That cannot be denied.

The real comparison between Andy Cap & Fletch is if we sign Fletch it'll be for around £8-10million.

The Carroll of winter 2011 was always playing above his natural level, even you lads knew it, which is why we all laughed together at the price tag!

Carroll is a 12 a season striker, add 8 or so assists.

Fletch is too, for less than a third of the cost.

Carroll is a better player than Fletcher.

Wouldn't surprise me if he came on loan (Fletcher) with a buy clause (price) dependant on whether WWFC get promoted at the first time of asking.

I have said his value was way over inflated and always believed so! 35 million is ludicrous for someone who only performed for 19 games <laugh>. To be fair they are probably about a similar standard with Carroll edging it somewhat. As I said to begin with, this is purely conjecture. Fletcher has been at clubs with little to no expectation. Would he go the same way as AC with you lot? Sunderland are a much bigger club than Wolves and Burnley. You have aspirations to do well in the PL. Survival is assumed.

I also think Fletcher is the wrong sort of striker for you. Guidetti is the guy you want and would be cheaper too!

  7. Liverpool have made ridicules signings but so have other teams like Chelsea all the top 4

Quite! However not as monumentally bad as making an average striker the 8th most expensive player ever.
