Congratulations Webber and Roadrunner, he proved me wrong, personally I thought he had lost his passion and was going to let Vettel walk it this year, but the Aussie is not going to sit down when it is his best chance at glory yet. Well done to both Ferrari men, making progress in what was an inferior car, Massa also, all the stick he has been getting, what a response yesterday. Vettel seemed a bit subdued in this race, attacking Massa and overtaking him was the only special event for him, but still fast anyhow. Both Lotus' have made extreme progress since last year, very nice to see Kimi and Grosjean moving up together. Schumacher had a fantastic qualifying in the tricky conditions, but he could only muster a 7th position as the Mercedes dropped very quick from the off, I could only wonder what would be said on here if Nico's and Michael's positions were reversed, it is clear Nico is not the wonderboy he was thought of in 2010 and most of 2011. (If only Michael had fewer technical issues eh.) Good overtake on Hamilton towards the end. Both Mclaren drivers were painful to watch at their home grand prix, the Brit spirit did bring them some points, but very far off from what they were at the very start of the season. Credit to Senna for not giving up the fight also. I couldn't care less about the Maldonado-Perez incident, they are young and inexperienced, whoever's fault it was (or whether it was a racing incident). What I do care about is the millions of £'s worth of equipment is always being bashed around, maybe Villeneuve was right after all. --> I hope Kobayashi's mechanic makes a full recovery, both were not at fault, Kamui has a right to push...mistakes happen.
What race were you watching? Lots of passing without DRS all around the circuit, let alone on the Wellington Straight were there was DRS.
Yeah but not on Hangar Straight. Despite it being the longest straight on the track, I saw one overtake there over the entire course of the race which is why it needs DRS.
To be honest I didn't even get to see half the race on TV thanks to the terrible Australian coverage.
A lot of overtakes at Vale are due to drivers going defensive into Stowe and compromising their exit. Stowe's difficult to overtake at because it's such a short braking zone, I'd rather see a move completed at Vale or Club than see someone breeze by under DRS down the straight.
Yeah this. DRS on Hanger Straight would have meant cars just flying past each other. At least on Wellington, for the most part, DRS got people alongside so they could battle into Brooklands side by side which is what we want to see.
Well I couldn't even see that many people overtaking into Vale because they weren't close enough going into Stowe.
Have a watch of the highlights or a full re-run if you get a chance and see if it changes your opinioin
And that's how the DRS should be, it should allow you to have the chance to overtake but it should not be a 'push to pass' button as we saw in Canada, yesterday it was perfect because it allowed the driver to set up a move, not complete it halfway down the straight
And I'm back from the mud hell hole I lived in for 4 days! Was a good race though, I enjoyed it and the crowd on Saturday at internationl straight was legendary, Mexican waves and demanding the teams do it as well.

This. Also: Kovalainen, 6? He was top of the back-markers all weekend, and only made one mistake on the opening lap that put him dead last. Grosjean equal to Raikkonen? Kobayashi 3 he qualified in the top 10, recovered following the opening lap, was running really well, then snatched a brake once. If the race had been one lap longer he could have finished 9th. Senna only a 7 again, Vergne equal to Ricciardo again, see my entries from previous races.
Bit harsh giving Seb a 7, he finished on the podium with a bad start and was fighting with Kimi and Massa at the early stages which cost him tyre wear. At one point he was catching Webber and Alonso on pace but his tyres were gone and had to settle for 3rd. 8/10 for me!
Why did perez get a 7? He crashed out, and it was partly his fault, so no way should he get higher than a 5.
I think to give him 8 out of 10 after being outraced by his team mate all weekend would be too much, 7 is fair seeing as he made up one place on his grid position and had a solid if unspectacular race. Although a good way to bounce back after the bad result in Valencia
But you always disagree with Seb's rankings!! 7/10 is fine. Was beaten by his teammate all weekend. Had a well timed pitstop that jumped him ahead of the queue, but Schuey was so slow he only needed a few laps to make that work, but generally had an unremarkable weekend in the best car in the field. Just seemed not to be at the races this weekend. Am sure he'll put on a good show in fromt of the home fans next time out.
Happy with Schumachers rank, anyway two pieces of news. 1)FIA is to disable DRS during yellow flag scenarios. 2)Nico Rosberg has urged Mercedes to get "it's act together".
