Alternative revenue streams will be vital to the long-term security of the club; we're not strong enough to survive on just football income from the stadium. The use of the stadium for alternative events will increase our income significantly. So if the worst were to happen and we were to fall from the EPL, we have that security.
Some of the comments of retractable roof/seats will mean the stadium can be converted at any time either in- or off-season; very important if it can happen. Phil Beard knows this marketplace, so he will be integral in this side of the business for us. Then there's the youth development returns that will come from sales/transfers of young developed players who do not make it up to the squad.

It's the only way forward if we want to compete in this division. I think the more relevant question is, do we want to have a multi purpose stadium? or even share with another code, which I think has been mentioned before?

I love Loftus Road but it is ESSENTIAL to move somewhere bigger if we are to stay in, and to prosper in, the Premier League. Tony and Amit are sensible guys: I trust them to structure the stadium financing in a way which is affordable and to build something which is strong on atmosphere.

    Great times.

Couldn't agree more mate, although I've got a lot of time for people that support lower league clubs like he does with Peterborough, he is a complete idiot and a massive wind-up merchant. And as for Darren Gough, well the man can't even speak English, so don't expect any sense to come from him. TalkSport ended as soon as Ian Wright left for me........

Durham is a total knob-jockey. His wind-ups are so obvious, they are embarrasing. It amazes me how the Arsenal supporters keep lining up to feed his egotistical wind-ups. Darren Gough continues to play his comedy side-kick (so embarrasing, he's much better than that!!).
Any numb-minding idiot can tell this team sit down for hours working out how to wind supporters up and get them calling in. Usual format: DumbDurham.. you take this viewpoint... GullibleGough... you take this viewpoint... OK now argue your point and wind listeners up!!
Durham is an embarrassment to journalism!!!!

This sums their show up very well. It is complete and utter cack. I can't believe they get away with it.

I wasn't the voter who voted no, even I voted yes.

Although I'll miss the compactness and atmosphere of LR, a new stadium is going to be great.

So very true. I do find Hawksby and Jacobs mildly amusing, but that's as good as it gets.

i think this is all part of turning what we know as a football club into a brand. Lets just hope that we do not lose to much of we love as a football club in doing this. sadley the two goon had a real good go at ruining are reputation by throwing alot of money at crap players and try to sack every manager the brought in.

now that we have a chairman that wants to spend money, every one is line up and slate us. every team in the premiership that was not there when it started teams like stoke and fulham have all done what we have done. spent alot of money re branding maybe building a new stadium. some have paid the price look at portsmouth. thoes who where there at the beging have all had huge amounts of money givin to them by sky and other sponcers. so no fan can have a go at us every one does and has to do it to survive in this league

As long as we're successful and well-run, then I'd have no problem becoming a bit of a "brand". Not to worry QLR, when your rivals are slating you its a sure sign your headed in the right direction. Its when they're saying nowte that you should be worried.

Was there any punch-ups in the State of Origin game last week?

A new stadium is essential. I know I've banged on about it in other threads, but if football clubs were ranked in order of stadium capacity we would currently be 8th in League One. Obviously that's just got good enough if we want to have a future and compete in the premiership. So we have to get a bigger ground. However, I would have a couple of provisos:

    1. The stadium should be in W12, or as near as possible (ideally the Unigate site, and certainly not the Southall Gasworks site). This would not only be better for the loyal fans, it would also make the idea of using the stadium as a multi-purpose venue a lot more viable.. Who is going to want to go to a venue somewhere in the middle of a no-man’s land between Hayes and Southall rail stations?

    2. The stadium shouldn’t burden the club with massive debt. If we can stay in the premier league for the next 5 years or so we will be entitled to our chunk of an absolute shed-load of money. The £3.018 billion bonanza TV deal which Sky and BT struck for 3 years of broadcast rights (kicking in from 2013) has broken all records. Rather that blow all that money on inflated player salaries, we should be prudent and invest a good portion of it in the new stadium. Not build up massive debt that will hang over the club for a decade or more.

So, it’s a “yes” from me, but more of a “yes but…”
