The RTE news here just reported that the lip reader gave evidence of exactly what Terry said word for word. Case closed.

He shook his hand after the game in the Chelsea dressing room. If you had bothered to clicking the link Imaz provided earlier in the thread you would know this. Swords I love your stuff on here usually, but on this you have been completely wrong based on a misunderstanding of the facts. Ferdinand has no say in this prosecution, he went on record earlier today in court saying he thought it should have been handled elsewhere. He has conducted himself with great dignity and he deserves our support, whether or not you think this is a ridiculous case.

He shook hands before he knew what had been said. It was only later that his other half showed him the you tube clip and realised it was racist abuse. The complaint was made by a third party and plod are duty bound to investigate. He has behaved impeccably throughout and continues to do so.

Terrys defence admitted he used the word black but that it was 'exaggerated sarcasm'.

Agree 100%. He has gone up in my estimation. We should back him to the hilt irrespective of the result of the trial.

That's the problem right there. If the shoe was on the other foot and it was our player in the dock, half the nit-wits on here would be rushing to his defense!

I said it from day one: This whole thing doesn't even rise to the level of farce.

    Swords,

I really fail to see what your point is at all. He did'nt hear it himself. He heard about it later. Before then he had shaken hands with Terry. He didn't make the complaint in the first place and and didn't ask for Terry to be prosecuted. He was asked to make a statement and on the basis of that, has been asked to give evidence in the trial on on oath. He has. Entirely truthfully. Warts and all. What everyone else makes of it particularly the judge is not of his making.

Can you get off his case now before you begin to really irritate people?

Sometimes an irritant is only an irritant because there is an uncomfortable truth contained therein.

The fact that this hearing has been delayed & delayed, we all know what the outcome will be, and that's nothing. There will be no action taken due to insufficient evidence or similar.

    I'm not holding my breath!

I think he will be asked to attend an ' Equalities and Diversity in the Workplace ' course.
