Dare I say it, but the support you are getting is EXACTLY what Terry's legal team were hoping for when they asked for the trial to take place 9 months after the event. Apathy has set in!!!
The specifics of whats being discussed in court in terms of who said what and who swore at who may be a farce Swords. The overall subject in question is certainally not a farce. Racial abuse is a serious matter.
So you think OJ was innocent and Young is not a diver based on the jury/FA telling you so or do you believe your own eyes and ears?
Has anybody heard about Ashley Cole's alleged role in all this? He is meant to have tried to cover up what JT said by saying that JT was referring to him when he made his "alleged" racist remarks. This is according to remarks Anton made in court today. AC is an absolute disgrace if that is true. Just read a piece about the trial on RTE text (page 221) for any Irish R's. I wonder what Ashley Cole's own community think of him for doing that?
If that is true it just goes to show how ridiculous this whole thing is. I hope Ferdinand doesn't get the Captaincy after all this.
Ach, not all this again. Myself and the 3 or 4 others' position on this thread is quite clear. The sooner its done with, the better mate.
At the moment, day 1 of 5, we have learned very little that we did not already know. It happened in the heat of the game. JT did use racist language. AF was winding him up and swore at him. I can't help thinking we will learn very little more to change the basic truth that JT should have been man enough to own up to what he had said, apologised immediately and explained that he was wound up at the time. If he had, that would have been it. He has brought this upon himself by his far fetched excuse that he was merely enquiring whether AF had thought he had said it. The very limited press reports of AF's evidence suggest to me that he has been entirely truthful. As always, verdicts will be reached primarily on the basis of the judge deciding who is telling the truth. It will be interesting to hear what the other players on both sides or indeed the ref say they heard and, of course, whether JT can be trusted to give evidence himself. The law is on JT's side to the extent that the Prosecution has to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt or putting it another way, so that the Judge is sure of what was said and what the intent was.
He did. Ferdinand wouldn't accept it. Have you been living under a rock on the Pennines or summat Yorkie?
If this is true âFerdinand denies hearing Terry racially abuse him - but admits referring to goading him over alleged affair with former team-mate's wifeâ , surely Terryâs defence has just gone out the window
Thank god the expert lip reader confirmed Terry is a liar. At least, that has been confirmed officially.
Has she? I'm not fully up to speed with this yet, but Terry hasn't denied saying those comments, just disputes the context.
It's Terry's word against Anton's. Which is presumably why Terry's lawyer wants to introduce evidence of Anton's past to impune Anton's character and have the judge believe Anton is a shady character and probably lying, and Terry is a thoroughly good bloke.
